@MetalHead40 damn I havew hoped for you to name amps i don´t like ;)
@swollseyba so let´s see what you will be saying once yours arrives

yep, that's a pretty stout lineup he referenced. Some of them are even notoriously hard to dial in...

I hadn't heard anything negative about the Sabot whatsoever prior to starting this thread, but there isn't much anecdotal info on it anywhere.

The youtube clips sound great, there is a cult-like following on the Armored fb group as well. That alone was enough to get me to order one but, obviously those are far from indisputable pieces of evidence.

Here's to hoping i don't feel like a fool once mine arrives.
Youtube Shills may have tricked me again!

I wouldn't worry about it too much. You might love it when it arrives. Let me know what you think of it once you run it through the paces. I'm curious about Armored as well.

^^^This for sure! One mans junk could be another's treasure...I say that sincerely not to be facetious.

The one thing that is not really subjective is the build quality though, and compared to darn near every other amp I've owned the Sabot just wasn't as solidly put together. No idea what PT sockets were used, but the tubes were super loose in both amps I had. If they wouldn't of had spring retainers on top I'd have been quite nervous. Some other things seemed a bit cheaply done also IMO. Not horrible build quality by any stretch, but no where near as solid a build as many other amps at a similar price point. I never did pop the hood and look at the guts so....

The loop did suck though too.

I'm not trying to make you regret anything, you may love it! I should mention also that I'did have issues with the build/delivery process also that I did not mention out of respect for the builder, so there's that on top of genuinely not liking the amp as well.

As we know we all here things differently and for me out of the dozens of amps I've owned and that stuck around a while (usually at least a year) the Sabot was instant disappointment for me. Only one other amp left as quick as it came and that was the DMoll, but I'd take that back everyday and twice on Sunday between it and the Sabot.

Just didn't have enough attack and was on the slow side in terms of response to fast start stop stuff. I often play thrash type rhythm riffs and it was to slow and tubby in the low end. Even clean boosted it lacked the cut, attack, and upper mid presence I like.

While i ( and many others here probably as well) am very aware of ceriatone amps,"Not having played it" and "not sure about quality" don't really put you in a position to rate it ;)

A bit off track here, but I just grabbed a Peters Bodyhammer and it smokes the Sabot...100x better in every regard IMO. I just think there are MUCH better amps out there if you're still itching for a "boutique" amp.

Well i am not dead set on an armored, i just try to gather some info as i am probably never gonna be able to try it first.

Been looking a lot into peters about two years ago but there was almost no info on the bodyhammer and then plasma blade as well.
How do the bodyhammer and sabot compare in your opinion?

On RT. I've been debating buying a Peters for many years. Almost bought a Chimera and Gryphon many times, but just never pulled the trigger. This BH popped up and I'm glad it did. It's on it's way to becoming my #3 maybe #2 amp of all time. One of only two amps I've ever owned that I can be satisfied plugging straight in/no boost...only other amp I could do that with was the Savage 120 (Well...the FB100 too, but only if it was cranked loud, otherwise I needed to boost it)

Night and day difference between the Sabot/BH. The BH is tighter, much more articulate and dynamic, has more girth (fills the room more), punches harder, and has an extremely open crunchy gain structure with very little compression. Very organic sounding. Honestly the BH is as close to the Wizard MCII as I've ever heard/felt in an amp. The Sabot was compressed, and had a much much much smaller sonic footprint, lacked dynamics. I don't know how to describe it, but the Sabot just sounded very off/weird to me. I'm not trying to knock the brand, but it was just an awful sounding amp to my ears TBH. Just sounded like a toy. The build quality on the Peters is phenomenal and the loop sounds great (granted all I use in the loop is various EQs, but the Sabot loop was the worst I've encountered. Even an EQ in the loop clipped so bad it was unusable for me).
