NGD for me today. But it took me 5 hours to drive to the seller and back, after a work day so it's too late and I'm too tired to even touch the damn thing. Let alone take pics.

it is the main factor, however, i do not have a job as i am a fucking 13 year old. spring is coming up though so there's a few opportunities to make extra money opening up, such as lawnmowing.

do it! this is a totally worthwhile investment in yourself. learning to take care of your instrument(s) is a skill that will serve you (and your friends) well for the rest of your life.

Agreed with this.

Also, if I were someone employing young people still in high school, I would be very interested in knowing that you had some work experience since most wouldn't. Plus, you can buy fun stuff for yourself.

Went to work without lunch yesterday, as there was a recall on what I had bought. Ducked across to the supermarket to grab a microwave meal. Got back to work, to find no clean utensils as some idiot(s) put their dirty utensils into the clean dishwasher. Like who TF has frosted cake before 10am and who TF doesn't check if the dishwasher is clean first thing on a Monday morning.

I went hungry as I couldn't be bothered hand washing a fork or spoon.

and people don't understand why I'm so protective of my fork in the breakroom.
"why are you so torqued up bro I washed it" like I don't know your definition of 'washed' is running it under lukewarm water for 4 seconds and then leaving it on the counter that hasn't been cleaned this decade.

I was in the middle of playing guitar and then my bridge pickup wouldn't adjust back to the correct height (screw blew through the solder I used to fill the gap because I had too strong of a spring on one side). I had to detune the guitar/pull apart the pickup ring, refill the baseplate hole with solder, re-drill it, and then put the pickup ring back together/tune back up. Of course I broke a string while I was re-tuning, so then I had to hunt for a new string. Luckily I had a d'addario set that I"d already cannibalized in the past. All that fucking around before I can get back to practicing ffs

I need to find a new place to live soon since my lease is up in a few months. I really kind of want to rent a house, but i don't want to pay an extra $400+ a month to do it. And some of the asks on lease terms for the ones I see are bananas long. 18 months? gimme a break.

So I dunno...maybe I'll stick with apartments. It just sucks trying to record in an apartment 🤔

One guy from my team of just 5 people left the company, and we hired a guy from within the organization to do part of his job. But the new guy isn't qualified to do all of it, so the rest seems to be falling on me. Which is good in a way, because more responsibility = more money, and this is really the only possible career development for me without going somewhere else. But the problem is I'm not really sure if I want to do web and backend development.
Anyway, looks like soon I'll be going from "Mobile software developer" to "Mobile-specialized full-stack developer", which I guess does sound a fair bit better on paper.

borders cannot contain you, categories do not define you, we are all one race, the "software engineer/developer" race.

I was gonna say, typically doing more work means you get a snazzy title change and a pat on the head at review time. I didn't know there was anyplace left on earth that added money to the equation.
You guys get a pat on the head at review time? The best I've gotten as of recent is "sorry we can't really do more but this is all there is".

Oh, that's in there too. Usually with a, "You've done great work this year, and I wish business was doing better so we could justify a cost of living raise at least."

Too bad it's a tough sell, since I see the financial statements showing record profits year over year. I'm not sure how good business has to be to justify cost of living raises. Do we need to triple or quadruple profits to do that? If it weren't for our ESOP plan....

Yeah, he sounds very lucky if he got more money to do more work. My work is looking like no raises for at least 5 years, and a few people just left which means the work is redistributed.
