I listened to Take Me Back to Eden after never having heard anything by them before and I liked it quite a bit. The singer’s yarling irritated me a little though.

I guess I never listened to them before because I was always seeing young women wearing their shirts (I’m 51). I guess I thought they were a pop band but with a cool name and logo.😄

I don't have strong feelings about this band really, but I thought this was pretty funny. I do agree on the take of them being somewhat boring and just building and building into nothing though lol

Yeah they're one of those bands like Ghost or Babymetal that generates some weird feedback loop of anti-contrarian-contrarianism: It's cool to like them because it's cool to hate them because it's lame to like them, and it couldn't possibly be because someone genuinely doesn't like the music, it must be social peacocking so you gotta peacock harder while pretending not to while accusing everyone else of doing so! In the end the band benefits from all the attention so good for them.

Emergence has really grown on me - I feel this is going to be a theme with the album if these 2 tracks are anything to go by.

Caramel probably has more of the elements I like less about Sleep Token, but isn't a bad song or anything imo. The blast beat/almost black metal scream section was surprising and cool, but don't know if having a 'twist' makes it a better song or anything you know.

They seem to be going for an interesting direction, I thought the last album was going to be very hard to top so makes sense it feels a bit different

Man, this band blows. It's like some super commercial product expertly crafted to appeal to 13-year-old girls who are just a liiittle bit too edgy for Taylor Swift.

I keep hearing this band compared to Deftones which is my favorite band. I gave a few songs a listen and I am good never hearing anything from them again.

Pop vocals, modern rap beats with a heavy riff thrown in for like 20 seconds. I hate modern pop and rap so adding those in kills it for me instantly. This band is just a mash up of too many styles at once for the people that say they like everything when you ask what they listen to. I like different styles of music but dont want every modern version of every style in one song.

Yeah I think the Deftones comparison might be a bit dated at this point, they don't really scratch quite that same itch anymore.

If you aren't a fan of the poppier aspects the band likely isn't for you but I will say that your entry point for this band in particular is pretty important because of how many facets they have to their sound. So I don't know which songs you checked out, but for people on this board, I'd probably point a fresh listener toward stuff like Alkaline, The Summoning, or Chokehold. If you were to come into the band based off the recommendation that they 'sound like Deftones' and your first song is something like Aqua Regia or Are You Really Okay? I couldn't blame you for immediately turning it off and forgetting about it

I just don't like them. They seem like dudes that grew up listening to things like Twenty One Pilots or something and just decided to make a "metal" band cause doing genre mash-ups is what people think is cool right now. I would guess they are more in to pop and hip hop oriented stuff. Even the way they move onstage from the live videos I watched, they looked like they have never seen a metal show. The Bass player is one of the most annoying people I've ever seen on stage (at least in the videos I saw.)

I hear so many people saying how great the singer is but it is so monotone and bland to me, especially with all the Deftones comparisons to the band. He has no melody at all and does the same super slow droning type sounds in everything I've heard.

Their drummer is not bad though and they have decent guitar tones when they get heavy, though that is where I see the only Deftones comparison. They just copied some guitar tones from Diamond Eyes or Koi No Yokan.

There's an occasional heavy section, but I tend to agree with video above. Much of this sounds like Tears for Fears covering "What is Love".
