Yeah, No, Definitely.
Yeah I bump up the resonance and bass a bit, but they just seem really "Plucky" with my 5150 no matter what I do.Confirming you’re using different settings for the different guitars (if we dont ask, we dont know)

Use those other 3 eq knobs too hehe.Yeah I bump up the resonance and bass a bit, but they just seem really "Plucky" with my 5150 no matter what I do.
I’m looking for my next guitar and I just cannot decide. I wanted a USA select Jackson SL2H but they don’t seem to be in stock anywhere, particularly in UK and Europe. It’s making me think I may end up going the route of the new American Series SL2 DX, I liked the SL2MG I tried but don’t like matte finishes. The new DX comes in gloss white and has Duncans.
I’d love an ESP original series but struggling to justify the price compared to other high end superstrats.
Suhr modern and EBMM JP15 also on the list (but I’ve had a few JPs and always end up selling them as the necks are just so unstable and I have to frequently adjust the truss rod).
Yeah I've done quite a bit of futzing around with them, frankly I'm looking for a little more consistency in volume/tone between my two gigging guitars (a 6 and a 7) and would rather not have to run back to the amp to change settings.Use those other 3 eq knobs too hehe.
Have you tried lowering the pickup or pole pieces a couple turns as well?
I have a set of those Lithiums in a box somewhere. I never liked them either. They are very metallic and piercing, like a high powered single coil.Yeah I bump up the resonance and bass a bit, but they just seem really "Plucky" with my 5150 no matter what I do.
Lithiums are really only good in a dark sounding guitar ime. I think I had like one kiesel where the lithiums sounded great and like 11 others where they were too damn bright.I have a set of those Lithiums in a box somewhere. I never liked them either. Heard, chef. Same pickup in everything and/or an eq with presets (boss eq200 etc).Yeah I've done quite a bit of futzing around with them, frankly I'm looking for a little more consistency in volume/tone between my two gigging guitars (a 6 and a 7) and would rather not have to run back to the amp to change settings.
That EL34 or 6L6GC?
This picture alone is probably worth a good 15 grand+.
Lotta LP posting going on, and I'm into it.This is where those strings went (for those who do not look at the LP thread) - proper post tomorrow hopefully

Definitely a cool guitar, but I have to ask, what's up with the Jim Kelley Amp? I thought maybe it was a Fender Champ/Tweed/etc single channel clone of some sort, but am reading about it, sounds like it's own thing with the concentric knobs and gain controls baxandall eq, 2 channels, 4 6v6s for 60w(!). Did someone famous use one? Or do you just own it because it's interesting/like it?
Don't really need anything guitar-related, but I keep thinking about bass. Either an old Ibanez Soundgear (the Reverse P/J variants or 5-string) and BTBnor Yamaha 5-string of sorts.
Damn! Seems like, all considered, the trade worked out well once the dust settled.Asked my tech today what the damage is on the reverb board for the Revv and he said they sent it out for free and he'd install it at no extra cost over the other work he did! I'm really hoping that I love the amp, because Revv has been great to deal with so far and they definitely went above and beyond for me here. The amp was out of warranty range and I'm not the original owner either way. Very cool of them!
In other news, I submitted a case on PayPal for the refund for at least the $200 repair, since the guy seems to not be useful in refunding directly. I also mentioned that it didn't come with the footswitch that I used for my initial trade valuation on and included a quote from Revv for a new one ($149 + S&H). Rather than respond and just send me $200 back, he escalated it as a PayPal claim and there's no way they don't side with me on the full thing with the mountain of evidence I provided![]()
