Also do searches for "PentaSystem guitars". It's the same thing, but under a different manufacturer.

aren't they also made by that Maestro Alex Gregory bloke, Shannon? IMO, that's enough of a reason to steer clear. ;)

Basically, nikt, lose a string on an XL scale 6er and tune it in 5ths, and you've got basically the same thing on your hands. Or, better yet, just tune a bari 6 or 7 in 5ths all the way up, and have quite a bit more range than the Schecter'll give you. :metal:

(You know, I've been meaning to try a 7 in 5ths for ages, but I always held off cause floyds such a bitch to retune... I should give it a try on my tremol-no equipped 7...)

Perfect excuse to buy a Blackjack 007 or C-7. No Floyd issues.

    Strapping Young Lad has been tuning in 5th for ages now. Try it out. Low to high: For 6-string, it's C G C G C G. For 7-string, it's G C G C G C G. It's fun as hell.

They're referring to tuning the guitar CGDAE (the pentasystem guitar), or on a 7 string -- CGDAEBF#

technically the tuning your talking about would be 4th-5th-4th-5th-4th-5th ;p

Exactly... I saw Shannon's post and I said "what the...? Those aren't fifths..."

Tuning in fifths is just like tuning in fourths backwards. Heh heh. For example, my mandolin is GDAE which is, of course, all fifths. But backwards that'd be EADG (all fourths). I've never tried that on a guitar before though, but it could be a fun experience... I've tuned all in fourths all the way across (EADGCF) and weirder stuff. Like I tuned my guitar to be an open D sus4 chord once and another time tuned my guitar to be an open augmented chord. Tuned my guitar in "double drop-D" too (DADADF#), which is basically another version of open D.. fun stuff.

I almost bought one back when I got my A7 but then decided against it for reasons that Jerich just mentioned. I'm assuming he knows of Bile since one of their only moments of fame was from the Strangeland soundtrack and his avatar is the movie cover.
