There's a lot of blending of various different mics and samples going on, the actual orchestral parts were just a few tracks.
Yeah just watched it actually. I'm a fan of bouncing everything down into submixes before moving onto orchestrations/vocals etc. so I'm not used to seeing literally 5 or so tracks for just the snare at that stage haha.

Yeah, I would probably do that too, but then again it's easier to do little tweaks in the end when everything is open like that. Didn't seem like he'd need to, but still.

Well, here's this thing

Gotta love a "demo" video for two guitars featuring not only a lack of playing said guitars, but music with no guitars at all. BUT DO YOU HEAR THOSE 230 TRACKS FAM? I was gonna say "what the fuck" but I'll switch to "#JustJariThings" instead.#JustJariThings

How did Wintersun go from being the most promising up-and-coming melodic death metal band to ever come out of Northern Europe to being the but of the joke for the metal community?
Welcome to this thread  it's fairly simple. Jari is, in all fairness, a pretty good composer for this kind of music. And back then he did deliver. But then he's been mentioning an album in the works back in 2006 (!!!) making it sound BACK THEN like most of it was already written and recorded. And he's been bullshitting everyone ever since. Saying he had writer's blocks (not an issue if the stuff is already written and just needs to be recorded), that he needs a new computer -since then upgraded to needing a whole personal studio, with a sauna, no less- to record and mix something he had allegedly (before backpedaling, I mean) already started working on... then he released the first half and said the second half would follow ASAP (that was in 2012), then he released a completely different album instead of the second half (so he DOES have everything that's needed to produce an album, doesn't he), started a whole Patreon cashgrab campaign by selling all kinds of shit noone cares about to fans that are too loyal for their own good. Oh, and once he said that "out of boredom" he had started writing material for "4 different albums", which is like the 34th coat of icing on that cake. And now he pours the money he DOES have into... what? Maybe the studio gear he's been bitching about for like 15 years? WRONG, very (and I mean, very) expensive custom guitars. Two at once.

So to answer your question : he's been making no fucking sense since 2006. He frankly seems completely unaware of how... full of himself, dishonest, and flat out just disappointing he comes across to even his own fans.

Once again though, the sauna is no big deal. Like I've said before, it's a standard thing over here and not expensive to build. People freaked out when they saw it in the building plans, as it's considered a luxury thing elsewhere, but here you simply won't find a house that doesn't have one. It's almost considered more important than having an indoor toilet, and I'm not even joking.

... But yeah, I agree that all the rest you mentioned is bullshit, waste of time and waste of money.

I get it but, and this is a serious question, do recording studios need one without compromise too? Because if you really need an own recording studio to do any work because your current situation is so bad (lol) and you have to ask FANS for their charity money...can you not go to sauna at home?

Yeah, of course you can. But the thing is, usually recording studio buildings need to have other facilities as well so the band(s) can live there while recording, and if he's building a bathroom with a shower and stuff, adding a sauna to that doesn't really cost much extra. Also I guess the general idea is that the studio will be in a kind of remote location, one where you don't go home from every day after recording. But, given that the money he got wasn't enough, it kinda sounds like he wants to build it in downtown Helsinki...

But yes, if it's indeed only a recording studio, with no sleeping area, kitchen, bathroom etc. then of course it doesn't need a sauna either.

Actually what I would've done is that I would've built two separate buildings - one for the actual studio and another for the living quarters. That would've made sense in many ways: He could've finished the studio much quicker, and second, it would've been easy to show the fans that the money went exactly into what it was intended for. Then he could've built the living quarters building later on the side. Though I guess the same could be achieved with just one building as well, just leaving the lower priority stuff unfinished until the time is right.

But yeah, either way, nothing happened and I'd be very surprised if it did ever happen (regarding the studio). Kinda sounds like he's waiting for someone to just hand him a finished studio or something...

Also, I think him building (or even just buying... ) the studio would be good business for him, as he could rent it out for other bands to record in too. You'd imagine such a studio would be in quite high esteem too.

I'm glad he didn't build the studio to be honest. Imagine if he had actually built the studio and people had hoped even longer for upcoming albums, which, let's face it, would never have come even with a new studio and as much time as needed, because he would have found some excuse. "I need to familiarize myself first" "I need to switch to a different DAW," "I need to rework the acoustics," "A new Mac came out, this is the only one I can do X with."
We probably wouldn't have made this thread and the last 20 pages for another 5 years!

5 :ugh:

There was also the baritone solar.
I don't even begrudge him that as it's not a super expensive custom shop guitar, also being perfectly capable of recording the stuff he wanted them for. Hell, I used a 28" 8 string years ago with a .090 on the lowest string for a low D and that was more than serviceable.

Well he had to have the expensive guitars to finish the new music. But now that he has them, everything is great.

....maybe....

Well he has to try the guitars first to see if they're worthy of recording Wintersun music.

.....and actually, his cpu is a bit restrictive now. But maybe one of those new M2 Macs could be a solution... maybe... if it's really expensive...

So no time 2? Shame he’s caved so much under the weight of delivering on something so anticipated. Gone full GRRMartin.

[update: found an english version]

So now Jari needs a quantum computer to mix Time 2 and has started a collaboration with Olkiluoto 3, a super long delayed nuclear power plant over here, which will power it. Ironically the power plant is even more delayed than Time 2, I think it was supposed to start producing energy something like 10 years ago and instead they're now running final tests

Yes, yes, I know what day it is, but you can't deny that was a funny post

I wonder which day will happen first: Olkiluoto 3 working properly or Time 2 releasing...
As far as I know the latest tests for OL3 have been successful so it looks like it'll actually start soon. So my bets are on that one.
