Makes me wonder if they needed it for recording and are now trying to send it back. If you sold it “as-is” I believe it’s tough shit as far as reverb policy goes?
Yep - probably buyers remorse

You’re not really out to dry - you can still return the gear if it’s damaged in shipping or if the seller lied about condition. I’ve returned guitars that showed up in poor condition when the listing said excellent and hid the damage, and I’ve accepted returns on shipping damage even “as-described”

The key is, you have to prove it isn’t as described and request the return immediately, if you wait a week reverb won’t side with you in the dispute

I get to appeal a reddit perma ban on my account that had thousands of comments over the ...7 or 8 years I've been on there, what a treat

Welp, according to them they reviewed the appeal, but I'm sure it's just a hand-wave and say "too bad, so sad" and left it standing; so there's a 7-year account down the drain without specifically point to a reason besides violating "content policy."

That does suck, but alternatively: fuck em.

i'm NOT fucking emo. sure, i may listen to a few emo bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, American Football, and Cap N Jazz, but that doesn't immediately make me emo. a lot of people think bands like My Chemical Romance and Paramore are emo but they're not. real emo is from the 80s and 90s. NOT the 2000s. i listen to mcr and paramore but fuck thats not emo. i wear shirts from those two bands and so many people call me emo. fuck off.

Oh cool, now we've got emo hipsters/gatekeepers? L O L, sure kid, tell me about what I lived thru when I was literally the same age you are now.

Any kid who was 14 when "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" came out would kill themselves if it meant you'd finally admit they were emo

I just discovered that my gap in musical and movie knowledge is much wider than I thought.

Karaoke night in Pakistan and I only recognised half of the rock songs.

How TF did I miss this gem?

I’m gonna get all old guy here but, when I was a freshly turned teenager in 2000ish, “emo” was indeed used to describe bands like sunny day, jimmy eat world (clarity), American football, etc, and “screamo” were bands like Saetia, Orchid, Jerome’s Dream, Pg 99, etc. in retrospect those bands were mostly punk/hardcore bands that fell under that umbrella for various reason, a bit more introspective than most hardcore at the time,

and I remember around 2003 when Alternative Press dropped a “screamo” issue that mentioned pretty much zero bands that had anything to do with the genre as I knew it and had The Used on the cover. My friends and I were all largely dumbfounded as The Used, MCR, Taking Back Sunday while loosely adjacent to punk and “emo/screamo” were basically radio rock bands but, genres change and history now calls that a third or fourth wave of emo these days, things change and evolve and the bands I was familiar with aren’t even referred to as “screamo” these days for the most part, although they very much were back then.

Same thing happened with metalcore. Metalcore when I was young was like Coalesce, Botch, Converge, Cave In, etc, and there were a few of the Swedish influenced bands getting thrown around like Darkest Hour but that whole sound didn’t take off until many years later, and at that time “metalcore” was largely describing hardcore punk bands with metal influences here and there, and then the whole Swedish riff sound totally took over and now bands like Botch and Coalesce are called shit like “mathcore” or whatever people wanna use these days. And NOW “metalcore” generally just sounds like nu-metal mashed with whatever current pop is happening to me on the rare occasion I hear any of it, and any bands that sound like those previously mentioned bands are just called something else entirely.

Can't speak for everyone else, but I got called/told a lot of the same things, along with being physically assaulted/harassed on a regular basis. Kids are terrible. I wouldn't take an ounce of it personally, though. Kids are constantly in attack mode so nobody pays attention to their own shortcoming.

Certain people with political agendas (not to bleed over from the other thread) would have you believe that every high school has a litterbox in every bathroom and prioritizes pronouns over anything else, so being gay in high school is nbd. Great to see teenagers can still manage to be absolutely dogshit humans toward each other. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I was one of the tools in high school who only liked metal and it had to have screaming (unless it was Tool, unsurprisingly), hated anything "emo", and I really resented when non-metal kids would label all metal as "screamo". It's super dumb that i got offended by that label, especially now that I'm discovering everything I missed out on in that entire subgenre and am loving it.

I was in a lot of ways opposite of this, my pre-teen years were filled with 90’s skate punk and pop punk and my only exposure to “metal” was a friend of mine who liked nu-metal. I enjoyed Metallica but he would show me bands like Korn, Slipknot, throughout the late 90s etc and I did not like it at all. I thought I didn’t like screaming at all, but sometime around ‘99 I made older friends than myself who started showing me bands like Snapcase, Coalesce, etc and I was really attracted to the sounds of those bands. I remember an older friend of mine showing me Dillinger’s Calculating Infinity in 2000 and not understanding it at all but being weirdly drawn to continue trying to listen to it. Turns out it wasn’t the screaming at all I didn’t like, I just fuckin hated nu-metal. Still do 🤣

True story

Me: *minding my own business, bopping to Abominable Iron Sloth in the kitchen*
Sous Chef: *walks in* "Can we listen to something that isn't screamo?"
Me: "Umm, excuse you, this isn't screamo, it's sludgecore."

True story pt.2

Coworker: *minding her own business listening to death metal*
Coworker 2: "Can we listen to something else? This is just noise."
Coworker 1: "This isn't noise. I can show you noise..."

Back in the 80s, people would throw that word around constantly. I couldn't even tell you how often I got called that. I never, even as a kid, understood why people thought it was some big hurtful thing. My reaction was always, "If the worst thing you can think of to call me is something meaning I'm gay? You got a really small imagination, man. Try harder."

Buck up. Being a teenager sucks. Then you grow up and find out things back then aren't nearly as big a deal as we let them become in our own minds.

File under: Some things aren't meant to be, but does the realization always have to be so aggravating?

At the end of last year, a former colleague reached-out to recruit me for his current company. I get the pitch- sounds like an awesome place. I apply, I interview, and ultimately they went with another applicant, though indicating another position would be posted early '25.

Last month, they contact me about the new position. I apply, I interview, and I get a crappy offer. I counter but they can't meet me on my demands so I cordially decline.

Just now, they contact me advising that they never filled that position. They liked me and wanted to know what it would take to win me over. I outline my demands. They counter with a worse offer than before. I honestly believe that HR reps think that they 'win' the negotiation if someone doesn't take their offer.

Did they at least offer you French benefits?
