Wow, it's so eerie... I was just talking to somebody about him a couple days ago. If you check his youtube channel, there's a shitload of recent videos from his "learn Van Halen" songs project.

Actually, checking just now, I see there's one from just 4 days ago.

What's interesting is that even though it's a "classic van halen" clip, it's labeled with the "learnedshredguitar.com" address in the corner, so I'm guessing he's still doing private and subscription based lessons on there. Speaking of which, I've been considering signing up.

I was gunna chime in with his huge amount of VH solo dissections, while I usually skip them, a couple have shown me that EVH did actually write some pretty cool solos.

    Hello,

I don't really go onto any guitar forums anymore because I really have nothing to add. I don't care for a lot of today's metal (or players aside from Guthrie) and I'd rather be playing guitar than typing about it. Not to mention I'm not a good at debating shit, and I hate having to defend myself every time I make a statement someone else doesn't like.

As for projects, I may be doing a solo album in May with 2 killer players who I won't mention in case the shit don't work out. I've also posted a bunch of Sinister Sam clips on youtube, that was my band in the 90's (San Jose, Ca), Zappa/Pantera shred stuff. I'm the long haired asshole on the right. LOL. We've supported Forbidden and Vio-Lence back in the day.

Still trying to finish up the VH youtube shit as well. I'm 42, my mid life crisis takes the form of acquiring every early era VH guitar ever made. What can I say? I'm a douche, ha ha. To me it makes more sense than getting a Harley or a 23 year old gf. Much cheaper too.

I'm more than happy to add whoever to my fb page, just find me via my email address: doug.steele@gmail.com

Hope everyone here is doing well and practicing guitar, buying great gear, getting laid and drunk, all the fun stuff.

    Cheers!!

    DS

    Whoa, the legend returns!

If you don't mind my asking, what is it about the modern metal ethos (I assume we're talking about Djent here) that turns you off?

Did a pair of reviews for the man a while back - his Flatstick project followed by LSG and couldn't fault either. Really liked the "no bullshit" approach to music...flying in the face of public opinion whilst doing something you love, and doing it well will always get respect from this tiny corner of the planet.

The VH dissections had me dragging out the old albums again and that's a rarity in itself!

    See ya soon Doug :)
