I got the fortin synergy module and I fucking hate it lol. Quacky mids in the up and down eq switch settings and the gain was pretty unfocused. I could only get one tone I kinda enjoyed out of it but that's not enough to force me to keep it so I sent it back. Much prefer the iicp and ultra lead modules I havscared?

What pickup and tuning? I find it can get quacky if you are using mid boosted, cocked wah sounding pickups. Turning off the bright switches and using a Tubescreamer is cool also.

Whats the total power draw? Truetone cs12 has 3A available.
everything I'm reading says 900/1000ma roughly for the HX Stomp

I may just email a small boutique and ask for a quote to assemble it + figure out the power themselves...

rough plan...

One of the 'stans...
Thinking of buying one high end amp with my end of year money. Was thinking something Hermansson modded, but some early contenders if I don't...

Friedman PhilX (does the early EVH thing as good as any I've ever heard)
Wizard (because)
Engl Founder's Ed (I sold my FB100 and miss the Engl sound)
Diezel Herbert Mk3
Marshall JVM410HJS (obv used)
Mesa Mk VII (I dont own anything Mesa)
KSR Juno 100 (I like the modded Marshall tones)

What else should I consider?

EVH frankenstein in drop B. Not scooped but not really mid boosted at all.
I haven't tried my Wolfgang through it yet, but yeah, that pickup shouldn't be too drastic like a Fishman.

If you like the IICP and UL, then you might just not like amps with a lot of upper mid pick attack.

Do it yourself, get a buddy to help if need be.

1mA for the hx and how much for the rest? A CS11 or CS12 should get it done :yesway: and they come with pedaltrain brackets

perhaps unpopular choices:

the new mod'd 59 or jcm800
slo-30
evil pumpkin

of the two listed, like the Herm or the KSR

Anyone else excited about the new noise gate from Pepers' Pedals?

I'm looking for a good 4 cable noise gate, and it's this or the Lichtlaerm The Key and The Gate. Tony makes some pretty cool shit, and it's hard to beat $120 for a good noise gate.

I want to live my life the SSO way and buy a Peavey 6505 to accompany my used prestige.

Found one in locally which seemed to be in great shape. Was able to test it. It sounded awesome but: there was a (mechanical?) buzz coming from the amp head directly. It was not amplified or transmitted to the speakers. It was quite annoying in the room but wasn't audible while playing with reasonable volume. I didn't buy it :(

Personally, I’m in a love hate relationship with my key and the gate. I don’t know if I would buy one again. It’s been incredibly inconsistent and seems to really be the problem child of my board. I’m not sure if the unit is defective, but it’s had very little play time over its life. Sometimes it kills the job, other times I’m left resetting cables and tweaking settings to hope it works out. The last time I plugged in there was a weird squeal in the background when it was engaged. I had used a different guitar the day before with no issues, but boom. 20 minutes later and I had finally gotten the noise to go away, but not without unplugging everything going into it a bunch of times.

I own 4 Lichtlaerm pedals, and outside of this one they are all awesome.

Met up with a guy and traded a Schecter KM7 MKII for a Fender Twin Reverb. Never had a Fender amp, other than my '90s Champ I found in a basement, so will be fun to mess with.

It's fun to put the master volume on different settings and see how it reacts. Cranking it to 10 gets some cool break-up.

Tried a DS1 into it thinking it would be a good '90s tone. I fucking hated it 😅

Saw it when he was at NAMM, I'd be curious how it compares to my GUPtech Ghoul.

I have had similar issues with basically every noise gate of this style (input-triggered+loop). It is as you say, it comes and goes. Very frustrating. I've resigned myself to just use two gates.

Thanks for making me feel less wtf is going on with this pedal. Glad I’m not alone in it. I might go over to a 2cm gate in the future. I really only use the gate when I’m running the board into the amp instead of the modeler, so it’s also the most expendable part of my setup at the moment.

Just got a Ventris on the way. After that, definitely going to be getting a midi switcher to improve swaps. Still in the research phase on this.
