What is your next guitar/gear purchase gonna be?

I bought a solasound tonebender hybrid mkII and Snouse black box pro mod

Now that I discovered really bonding with a few instruments and not needing to swap guitars that much, I'm falling in the hole of whoring amps and possibly cabinets (I don't count pedals ).

Not entirely satisfied by my Ironball 25 for how I play but there is something in the ENGL grain I like, so I'm on the lookout for a Fireball 25. Then again, I am curious how a H&K Tube/Grandmeister plays so hey why not... The Laney IRT studio is attractive too!

But I only have one 1x12 VHT speaker (with the P100E inside) which is pretty special as far as speakers go. I guess I'd need something classical like a good 1x12 v30 to compare amps on a more universal basis... but a Thiele cab to swap speaker in and out could be interesting.

I’m curious how it’ll stack up against the Helix, though I’m sure it’ll just boil down to preference.

I only got to mess around (IE scroll through factory presets) for like an hour, but all I have to say now is, “Helix who?”
I honestly wasn’t expecting to fall in love so instantly, but I haven’t had a hands on experience with any modelers past the Helix and Axe Fx II generation. Man, did I miss having a good rectifier sim. Also, having a fucking Triple Crown sim is the cherry on top. 🍒

The Black Box is one of my fav pedals. It stacks very well with a TS as well. I love how detailed the note definition is even with it cranked. And there's so many subtle of not so subtle tones available - e.g. gain up and boost lower vs gain down and boost up. Plus you have the various mods like the clean or JFET boost. Hope you enjoy as much as I do lol.

And the Solasound pedal is legit. 3D sounding fuzz that has to be experienced. I believe that one cleans up nice and at like 9 on your guitar volume is still polite, but there's a huge difference between 9-9.5 and 9.5-10. Definitely try it with single coils not HB.

That's not how that works.

If something is $1,000 and you pay 7% tax it costs you $1,070. If you get 10% off of the same $1,000 item and pay the same 7% tax you pay $963, so you technically save about 11% on your purchase.

Well this is disappointing... apparently the guitar was put in the case and shipped by EBMM before the finish had cured completely so there are finish flaws on the lower face, the side next to the strap button, and over a good chunk of the back of the guitar. It MIGHT buff out, but I really don't want to try to screw with it on a brand new $3k+ guitar.

So it is going back

Hard to photograph but you can feel it and see it clearly in person... it's a couple inches across on both sides of the top, the photo only catches less than half of it and it is the same on the other half

Not sure how I feel about this pedal. It’s one of those with a couple of good settings and then everything else sounds like a cheap knockoff muff. The Vox AC30 setting is particularly bad. But I found at least one killer modern metal setting and for the price that makes it prob worth keeping. Note this is the MOD version that’s supposed to be tuned for more modern tones anyways, so maybe in doing so it destroyed the vintage tones?

The dual recto I ordered from GC was cancelled because it was a customer return with smashed tubes… then the jp15 I ordered from GC that was supposed to come with a case arrived without one and was smashed up in shipping. Gotta love guitar center. To make myself feel better, I put in an order for a 70s refinned Gibson RD.

Bought a 95Q Crybaby the other day and goddamn I should just stick with this lmao. Did the "mod" where you re-adjust the pot position to make the overall sweep darker and yeah it's the ideal wah. Even moreso than the 535Q auto-return wah I used to have.

Pretty sure I saw that one pop up too. It's a late '80s one and IIRC the late '80s is a pretty damn good year for Gibson? Or am I wrong.
