oh...let me just close my 37 Reverb tabs with various rga121s, 321, 652, 255...
A day before making this post I was about to pull the trigger on a 121 but realized I would just drop the tuning and fall back into my comfort genres. Still might...but I'm resisting
I'm a strong advocate of the SS.org moto. Most of my guitars have floating trems (various Edge models), but I own (and love) an RGA321F and an RG652FX.

If you like the Wizard / Super Wizard neck profiles (I won't play anything else), I really don't think you can beat a fixed bridge Ibanez Prestige for the money they go for on the used market.

So I think you should stop resisting buying the RGA121, but resist drop tuning it if that's not what you want to play. You could keep your Jackson in one tuning (drop D?) and the Ibanez in another (E standard?).

If you don't mind Epiphone, made in China, Sweetwater is offering the Les Paul prophecy in 2 different finishes (tiger burst and black) for $699 right now. That's about as good a deal as you can get for a guitar capable of metal and even gigging right out of the gate.

My last purchase was a Reverend Descent W Baritone. It's a pretty well made guitar with good specs, hardware, electronics and it sounds and feels good to play. It seems to be able to do all genres. My last guitar I sold was a Fender player strat. The pickups sounded quite modern and again could do pretty much any genre comfortably but I sold it cos it was too heavy and I wanted to downtune to C sharp standard without heavy strings.
