Now I'm not bumping a dead thread, do any other builders/manufacturers offer a similar shape to the Duality?

Let him burn himself.

I would guess that Dik probably has a very small group of loyal customers that he makes guitars for so they can vouch for him loudly while he scams everyone else. I guess even criminals have to put in a little effort?

From the tone of his post I'm guessing it's either Vik himself or someone who knows him personally

I mean, that guy who has destroyed like 20+ Viks used to be that super loyal customer, and Vik still ultimately fucked him over so badly he went on this crazy all-out vendetta. So I think it's really not a matter of if he will fuck you over, but when -- he's done it to his absolute best customers.

People sometimes have reached out to me over the years, have seen this thread, ping me for advice, etc. One of them got fucked over as well -- I think that was around 2019. So it's just funny to me to watch people take that risk. But it's the risk-takers that keep him in business, and in a time when there was hope of people getting their undelivered guitars, gave him the capital to not have to finish those instruments. So they supported that system and they get what's owed to them IMO. I did feel bad for the one guy because he just found this thread too late and had already sent the money.

But for this guy, in this case the best possible outcome for them is they get a Vik guitar, which in my experience is not a particularly good outcome in its own right. Anyone who wants an obvious example of Vik quality just go dig up photos of my old burl top savior 7-string and look at the pickup routes. Personally I've never seen that sort of stuff on a Huber or any other guitar in that price range, nor heard Nik or any other builder in that league talk about a few bad apples.

Well said. Best case scenario they get a guitar that won't consistently be a good build. Worst case scenario they get nothing. And with so many other options around, to the point that people are writing about the vast number of luthiers around today

You have 3 friends all decided to order Viks, got them at the same time, and you played them, and then you came to TGP to ask whether the radius he does on all the guitars would work out for you because you generally prefer a different radius....

Given that this guy lives in the states, how is it the case that nothing has happened to him yet?

I believe the last time his company accumulated a good number of complaints, he shut it down and made Envoy. Now I see more pushing of the Vik brand, but it might be like a different LLC behind it.
