We get SO screwedA damn shame that the USD/CAD exchange is crap, Vader cab I played in (owned by someone) is still my favorite cab ever.
I thought Vader cabs were pretty budget options?
They were never as expensive as some of the more popular independent builders like Mills or Port, but I don't think they were ever really "cheap" in any particular way.
Maybe you're thinking Avatar?
Not confusing them, but basically thought they were comparable. Maybe something about the branding being kind of cheapish.
Shots fired. They were definitely going for a stripped down, no nonsense vibe, which I can see being read as cheap if you're into fancy stuff.
Yeah I bought one back when the hype was huge. They were alright but sounded very cold and percussive. I love the look and the Rhino lining coat but the speakers were meh. They were marketed towards the "bree bree" grindcore types and for that they worked. I brought mine to a studio one time and the Mesa Recto cab the studio had ate it alive. I bought a Marshall MF280 cab and there was absolutely no comparison. I ended up selling my Vader to a SS.org forumite. I can't remember who, though.my experience with vader was playing shows with some guys that owned the rhinoliner-coated ones
pretty cool, sounded great from what i remember, but i recall them saying they cared more about them being really resilient and durable than how they sounded
+1 to this. I bought a Vader years ago when they were all the rage and just didn't get the hype. In addition to what you explained, I also found my 4x12 extremely directional. It didn't really fill the room like others I've used and if you weren't in its sweet spot, it sounded really bad.Yeah I bought one back when the hype was huge. Very well built cab, though, but definitely didn't live up to the hype of the others of its time, like Mills or the Emperor I currently have IMO. There's a lot of gear from back then that was just okay that people now seem to salivate over though. I don't really get it.
