Aren't you guys currently throwing the book at Boris Johnson? Or did I misread that?
Sort of, but it's very politically charged by the Tories trying to cut BoJo loose. He's going to accept a ban to avoid being voted out, probably. No actual consequential charges.

Two news stories at the same time? Impossible. Something strange is afoot...

It's an actual bi-partisan bill hidden under the guise of banning TikTok, but of course has a bunch of other heinous shit mixed in.

My bad for focusing on negatives OTHER THAN Donald Trump.

I thought this was the "US Political Discussion" thread. MY BAD

The RESTRICT Act has been in the news since before the indictment. Why didn't you post about it first?

Why didn't I scroll congress.gov daily and detect/read understand the bill from March 7th on, instead of focusing 100% of my attention on Donald Trump?

Is that what you're asking me Steve?

No I'm asking why your only contribution on this forum is whataboutism in the politics sub.

Make yourself useful and quote every time in the past 6 months I've strictly adhered to "whataboutism".

Subtle edit: @StevenCwhat critical discussion has actually been had here that doesn't involve Trump??

Shame on me for posting about something OTHER THAN Donald Trump on a weekday.

Go for it. Just funny how the right got spontaneously geared up about another issue the second Trump got indicted, which they were also saying wasn't going to happen.

Nah. Only because "following" news is just a steady-state of agitation. I listen to a summary on NPR after he flew back home and the DA's address while i was driving, and planning on not looking for any more info until maybe before dinner, to watch up on some details. Anything resembling 24/7 news, whether it's Fox or PBS, isn't conducive to good mental health.

I hear you there. Was thankfully on the road most of the day, so the extent of my following this was reading two headlines and seeing two pictures. But I ask my friends that are more into the horse race stuff, and hearing the coverage on major news channels is ultra cringe.

So, basically, 34 indictments, plead not guilty, nothing else happens now until December. By then, the campaigns will be well under way, and I'm sure the Republicans, if they decide to support him, will be all about saying we can't block a campaign. Hell, they may just fall in line to piss off the Democrats, since the entire party's only common goal now is to piss off the Democrats.

This seems to already be happening, with everybody supporting Trump even if they otherwise support DeSantis. I have little doubt this will help Trump in the primary, but the polls suggest independents are mostly against him at this point so it presumably will make victory in the general even less likely.

It boggles my mind that trump's bootlickers support him even more... You'd think a person would not want to support someone who is facing double digit felony counts with who knows what after this for other criminal charges.

Apparently "where there's smoke, there's fire" is lost on them.

My understanding is he's selling a mug shot t-shirt, even if they didn't take a mug shot.

Eh his Photoshop people are cringy at best. Nothing like the real thing. Like OJ.

Because to them, it's a "deep state witch hunt designed to keep their hero down."

Trump has been a crook, scammer, and conman since forever. Being in the presidency just put much of his inside dealings more vulnerable to public and legal scrutiny. The behavior has always been there.

If you spend even 10 seconds debating his supporter’s sanity, it’s 10 seconds too long. These people believed there was fucking nanobot GPS ink in the fucking ballots that was being tracked by a German server farm that was commandeered by US forces to clean up any evidence. The “This is what Glades believes” meme is rarely used in a context that’s on par with the crazy shit I’ve seen those people furiously defend.
