The first picture that pops up on that website has a guitar with a 9V battery compartment installed on the front, below the pickup, in the middle of some figured wood. No desire to look further.

Inspired by Japan and made in UK? Is this the Superdry of guitars?

    No, everything looks terrible.

The core models are a strat copy and a bunch of models that look like an ugly pastiche of whatever's been popular for the past year.

Boring, more Fender/Gibson copies and characterless superstrats.

Japan is known for their precision at every level of design and construction.
Great Britain is known for creativity in innovation.

These guitars manage to showcase neither.

Honest advice: You should stop looking for obscure builders trying to snag a cheap custom guitar. What's more likely is, that you will end up with an unsellable lemon or with no guitar at all.

The thing is, someone is selling a prototype of the Sinjuku 7 model and as far as I know, it's a first one build specifically for the customer. And it's like around 600$. For that price and specs it's hard for me to find anthing else and it seems like a good deal. Guitar looks very good and everything about it is pretty good damn nice.

Well, at your own risk. I'd rather buy an Ibanez premium than risk some random dude's first builds. We think of mass produced guitars as being below handmade, and maybe the QC out the door reflects the usual compromises of trying to be maximally productive, but the guys still have experience and proper tools.

I mean, if you're saying you guitars are inspired by Japan and then name your guitars after Akihabara/Shinjuku/Shibuya of all places -- that's a red flag right there. "I was just so inspired by maid cafes and otaku tourists, I went back to the UK and created this shape."

Yeah, I'm not buying it. Just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with them. I'm usually picky about builders like this. Thanks!

Maybe it’s like a flounder, and evolved to have the battery compartment on the front?

Why are all the saddles maxed out like that? I wouldn't trust that thing to intonate.

Honestly, if you've been here a while, everything you said in this post has been mirrored multiple times in the past by someone else enamored by a new obscure builder, and the result has been a shitty guitar far too often. Their whole point is to impress with a flashy guitar, to draw in people who think new and custom means a better guitar than a renowned brand that nails it consistently. I think many of us here have lost count of how many times someone has said, "well for that price nobody has the same specs and it looks cool so it's probably good". For $600 you absolutely can find a real MIJ guitar that plays damn well, even if that $600 "fancy" looking custom might sound nicer on paper. Don't be a sucker.
