Finally got my strat to where I want it, or rather I'm done fussing over it, so I will post it itt now:
IMG_6118.jpg

Just a strat in shape now.

I had convinced myself I wanted an SSS guitar from listening to Bilmuri, he uses position 2 a lot, but at the end of the day, position 2 and 4 just give me the yuck for anything else. Just makes me think of Law & Order or 90s country music. So I kind of tele-fied my strat.

Previously I had Fast Track 1s in all positions when it was SSS, but it was still too single coily sounding to me. Put the Cool Rails in there, and it's not much different lol. (edit, I take this back, i think it sounds a lot more like a humbucker on the bridge) Just more output and mids, so close enough to what I like👍

Here's me strumming some chords on neck, bridge+neck, bridge, if anyone cares to know what the cool rails are like.

I must be getting old because I hit the store yesterday and I was picking up more 'Strats' than anything else. Strange for a metal guy.

I was liking every Fender Luxe I picked up. I could see slapping a HH pickguard on there and being happy. Even the Fender Player series and DeLonge were nice. Tried some Ibanez AZ guitars, which I like, but the neck is a little too 'D" or 'U' shaped. I played a few Suhrs, and they felt kind of similar to the Ibanez AZs in terms of neck shape. Always like the EBMM Lukes and such that are Strat based.

Picked up a $3k GIbson Les Paul. Still nope.

In the end I ended up picking up a Schecter 'Strat'. I need to get it cleaned up before taking pictures though.

On the subject of recordings with a Strat...

Both songs were written with a strict single coil only rule in mind. There a few rhythm tracks that used Teles but mostly Strats.

First song was done on a G&L US Legacy with Dimarzio Cruisers (yeah, they're humbuckes, so I know I broke my own rule). One of the few non Ibanez guitars I own and keep at close proximity. I used it on every session I do. Thinking of modding it with a blend control some time...

Second song was on a Talman that's become my main SSS of choice, studio or live. Loaded with SD Antiquity 2 Surf set, Gotoh vintage steel trem, and Mad Hatter 6 way switch.

I’ve found that Strats are just… comfortable. They’re not the fastest playing guitars, or the biggest sounding, but everything just fits like a glove. I love them.

debating a gold HB-only guard for a different vibe of the ap2, not that I have any issues with the stock singlecoils. Just a vintage hotrod strat kinda vibe.

On your sunburst one? That would be super cool imo, like those old Jazzmasters, maybe make the humbuckers cream/aged white 😃

I appreciate stock guitars and simplicity, but strats are so easily mod-able it feels like it's our god given right to mod them haha.

Maybe not the most appropriate thread to post this in, but anyways....
just for poos and gigs, I was looking up other people who have done 2 pickup strats, and a lot of you probably have seen Ritchie Blackmore's sig strat at one point, which has a dummy single coil in the middle. But check this one out:

Seems to have come stock with two lace sensor golds and a Japan only release, but the really weird thing is it has set/neck through:

Out there, somewhere
Can't think of a more appropriate place for a Blackmore strat :2c:

It has a set neck because Blackmore's strats had set necks

Full specs for that particular model

Yknow I always wondered why Fender used Quarter Pounders in the Blackmore strat, even though he never used them... It just occurred to me It's because they look like the old Schecter pickups he used to use in the '80s and '90s lol.
Though from what I can tell, he stopped using those way before the Richie sig came out? Seems like hes using Bill Lawrence and Lace pickups now.
