First time painting with india ink. "Drawing paper" was definitely the wrong medium, though. It's so wet, the paper rippled. Not great, but fun.

Did a second self-portrait in charcoal. I think the face looks more like me than the first one.

Those are getting nice.

For water based mediums, use thicker/heavier paper, preferably cotton based (harder to ripple) and without texture on its surface. Texturized paper won't help you evolve.

Charcoal is a difficult medium to work with because it's too soft and gets really dark too fast. It's hard to work on the greys and super easy to unwillingly smudge, but you're getting the hang of it...
