I want to buy an Epiphone LPC which was my dream guitar as a kid. Well, it was actually the Gibson LPC but I'm not willing to spend the kind of money they're asking for it. An Epiphone with the Gibson pickups will do just fine.

I'm trying to decide if I should get the IBG one or the regular version. The price difference (in CAD) is 1,899 vs 1,149. If I add a Yorkville case and a set of 490R498T pickups, it brings the total for the regular LPC to 1,587. So a savings of 312 CAD.

The only real differences between the two (that I know of) are:
- Open book headstock vs the Epihone headstock (I prefer the Epiphone to have the Epipohne headstock, oddly enough).
- Neck shape: modern medium C vs a 60's slimtaper (I'm not super fussy on neck shape, but I think I would prefer the 60s).
- Pickups, but I would already be buying the Gibson set so that's already factored in.
- Inlays: pearloid vs Mother of Pearl. I don't know if I really care?? Maybe if I saw them side by side.
- Case: the IBG comes with a nice branded HSC. But I don't care that much. A generic Yorkville HSC is fine with me.

As I type that list, it seems like I'm obviously leaning towards the regular LCP model with upgrades. I do enjoy modding guitars too so that part will be fun.

Question is, do you think they might use better quality woods for the IBG one? Any other differences that I didn't catch?

@Stiman dont buy a new one when a used one is $800 or less :2c:

I'd consider buying a used one from Long & Mcquade. They have many used ones and this way I can bring it home, make sure the fretwork is good enough and if not, I can return it.

The used market only has old ones with rosewood boards. Buying one with a rosewood board would not fulfill this childhood dream guitar. It would be equivalent to having a LPC with a hockey stick headstock to me, just 1000% wrong looking.
