Band I want to see is playing with 4(!) other bands.
I could not give a shit about the other bands, and there's no time table, so I can't just dip in and out for the band I want to see it seems.
It's also a release party for one of the bands in the show? There's even a DJ on the flyer besides the already above mentioned bands.
The show also starts at 3pm.
Everything about this show ain't tracking.....
I once went to a show that had four bands…and the one I there to see was last. Felt like an old man even though I’m not even 30. No idea how people have the motivation to stand for four hours in GA (I had an assigned seat).

I feel that. I should add this to the geezer thread, but one of the reasons I've come to like jazz shows so much now is they're usually at small bar things that have seating and everyone is low energy like me😆

My band is playing a cover show this weekend with 8 (that's E I G H T) other bands, 30 min sets and razor-thin 10min changeovers. I hope their stage manager has an assertive personality.

They were originally looking for ten bands and I don't know if they did the math on that...

Sound checks start and noon and we are last at midnight (which, to be fair, we play at this venue often and they like us but we also always blow the roof off so I'd put us last too).

It's gonna be a looooong day. I'll be taking bets at practice tonight on how many minutes past midnight we actually get to play.

I’ve currently only got one telecaster, an American Original 70s custom in vintage blonde - It’s dope, sounds great for when I’m wanting to do spacey ambient type jams and such and I’ve always wanted fender to do a reissue in blonde for that model. It’s more of an aged white blonde than the yellow type blonde, but anyhoo, lately I’ve found myself wanting to get a nice blackguard type tele as well. Problem is, I’m very picky about the blonde finish and pretty much the only ones that look good to me in the “butterscotch” type finish are the custom shop guitars. The reissues are too orange, the Mexicans are closer to the aged white blonde of the 70s I already have.. But also I wouldn’t be playing shows with this guitar without having to throw a hot rail in it and defeat the purpose so I also don’t see a reason to spend 3-4k because I’m picky about a color. Nonetheless I find myself browsing reverb for new listings recently.

Another option is the older 50’s road worns, which are much closer to the custom shops shades of blonde and I’ve had two of those and enjoyed them. But I also got them for like $300 from a previous Fender endorsement so seeing them online now for like $1200 is absurd.

I own all of those except for a Strat. I fucking hate Strats. Fender Strats, super Strats, doesn’t matter. Single cuts for life

I could probably use a nice Strat and Les Paul, but I could live without a Tele for like the rest of my life.

Teles.... Had a jazzmaster with tele electronics in it for a little while. Couldn't ever get a sound I wanted out of it. Probably ripped for indie and emo, but that's not my bag as a player. Sweeps sounded thin and lame. Once I hit 50, I'm sure I'll get a tele.

You can get a tele to sound pretty rippin with a hot rail or similar if that’s the sound you’re going for.

For sludge and such I think they sound awesome as is. Unsane, Kowloon Walled City come to mind. Killer tele tones in those bands.

Also props to this polish band doing straight up 2000s mathy metalcore shit on teles;

I've got two teles... one contoured/ one not and despite that the non-contoured body obviously isn't quite as comfortable, I love them both. The one thing though that just sucks about teles... another obvious, is the restricted upper fret access. God that does suck.

A telemaster?

Those are legit some of the coolest guitars imo. Solves my biggest issue with the tele, non-contoured body.

If you're used to playing humbuckers all the time, going to single coils sounds like the wimpiest shit ever (imo). I can get sounds I like from single coils (especially tele bridge), but I'd rather just start from a baseline I do like which is a humbucker.
It's one of the reasons I can't stand coil splits and am surprised so many people like them; the sonic difference is so jarring in the same guitar.

I fuck with the jazzmaster/telemaster/offset telecaster. I had one recently but sold it as I just didn’t play it too much at the time, although kinda was thinking about getting another to play shows with.

Yeah I had the paranormal offset tele in Olympic White. Reminds me of a cartoon ghost.

I've been quoted for $500 for a stainless steel refret for my RG Prestige recently.

That's the thing...I'm not that into guitar specs. I found a local guitar guy, but I don't know fret size. I like Fender size frets because they're little and fit my fat fingers better. People rave about Stainless frets but I feel like

NGL stainless steel frets are life-changing. They are just so fucking smooth.

I bought a Majesty 6 in 2023 but I had always had nickel-fretted guitars before then. Now, I am strongly considering having my prized RG2550Z refretted with stainless steel. In fact, I look down upon my guitars that have nickel frets. I like smooth frets and I HATE polishing nickel frets every other time I do a string change. I don't like the hand cramps!

Yesterday I ate some cabbage soup straight out of the bowl like a dog because I was too lazy to get a spoon and I went to bed without a shower. Today my face reeked like stale cabbage so I couldn't wait to get home from work and get a long shower but after the shower I can still smell it. :ugh: Guess I have to shave off all my facial hair.
