I've been having trouble sleeping.

Tried melatonin, all the advil, tylenol, etc PMs, white noise, making it cold enough my light bill is higher than Willie Nelson, nothing works. Well, there's one thing that works, but something about bible thumping Republics and a burning bush....

So pretty much my life has been

My phone of 5.5 years has been acting up for months and was especially finicky with the USB C charging port for its own special One Plus fast charger. Today it finally stopped taking a charge from all my USB C chargers and cables. I'm glad everything was backed up on it, but it was very strange to slowly watch the battery drain until it actually died for good. Rest easy, ol' gal; ya did good.

Good thing I have a work phone.
I got my USB port replaced by a repair place once. Pretty painless actually. A lot easier than getting a new phone.

Mine is getting up there in years now but hell if I want to she'll out half a grand for an okay new phone.

currently preparing the Chilean equivalent of a Bar Exam, 3 months of studying done and 2 to go, plenty of time to reinforce the studied content and do some practical cases, but ffs I just want to get over this shit as soon as posible and get back to work (had to resign from my Paralegal job to just focus on this)

Fuck the national post service. How come my package can travel from Lithuania to Finland in sub-24 hours but it takes god knows how many days to get the package to the final destination from the terminal that's like 4 miles away...

My grandmother who's 85 years old soon sold her apartment. The thing is that half of it was owned by my grandfather who died in mid 80's, so my mother and uncle get 25% she got from selling price of 550 000 euros. And I dont still get nothing... sigh. At the same time it makes me sad that she lived there 56 years and it's my mothers childhood home where I used to spend also a lot of time as a kid, so many memories. They used to have a professional photography store, and they documented quite a lot of things and took pictures over the years, which I'm glad of.

Oh I know, but I have one of those jobs where getting blackout drunk every night so you can sleep...ya, that's fine....but you want to smoke the devil's lettuce?????

I get the whole have to do a random, make sure you're not drunk or stoned while your at work. Breathalyzer, that makes sense, but making sure you didn't smoke weed a week ago?

So I was making chili for dinner, and kept feeling like I was forgetting something. Got done with it, tasted fucking amazing, fixed me up a bowl, open the fridge to get a coke to make me another whiskey drink, and see the onions I forgot about sitting there. Oh well, my wife still said it's probably the best chili she's ever had.

Also, I was doing the autistic thing and watching chili recipes while I'm making chili, and people will be like, make sure you check this out, I make my chili completely different than everybody else, and then make the same damn recipe as everyone else, but add something like a cup of coffee to it. Maybe it's because mine is traditional Texican chili, it is like drastically different that most of the chili recipes. It's pretty much just meat, chilis and seasoning. And before someone says something, by all means, you do you, but traditional Texas chili doesn't have beans in it.

achkually there were quite a few early Texas chili recipes that had beans in them. Max Miller mentions it in his vid on the history of San Antonio chili queens.

I mean part of it is the tism, so beans is a big texture thing for me, but also, I get adding beans to it. I raised two kids on minimum wage, you gotta stretch that pot of food as far as you can, and beans are cheap.

BUT, according to Terlingua rules:
You must prepare your chili from scratch, in the open and on site at the cookoff. No marinating and no complete commercial chili mixes allowed. Do not use fillers in your chili; such as beans, macaroni, rice, hominy, or other similar ingredients. Prepare and cook your chili in as sanitary a manner as possible.

I'm not trying to stretch meals out because I'm poor anymore, my chili has like 4-5 pounds of brisket in it, and personally, I would rather have extra meat than adding beans to it to stretch it.

But instead of like all the maybe "award winning" chili videos on youtube, I do chopped up bite size pieces of meat instead of ground chuck, and I don't put tomatoes in my chili.

Ooh, chopped sounds way better than ground. Nice.

Back when I ate meat I always preferred chili with beans in it (and cheese and fresh onion or cabbage on top) for the sake of varying textures. But I can definitely dig the notion of keeping something really simple to make the skill or spicing really shine.

What a week to pick to spend summer vacation. Peak temperature of the week is today and it only shows 16c (57F). Well, at least I can catch up on some sleep debt because it's nice and chilly during the nights so I'm sleeping like a baby.

I used to have a hard time sleeping in my 20's, and nothing helped. I realised later that the issue was just the lack of consistency - once I got kids and had to always wake up early in the morning and do their routine stuff throughout the day, I also fell into line and these days I sleep like a baby every night.

Just to cover the bases (and maybe for the benefit of anyone else reading this), but have you properly cleaned out the port? Every phone I've had with USB C eventually gets gunk in it from my pocket and stops taking a charge, acting exactly like something's broken with the port. Five minutes really digging in there with something non-conductive (I like the plastic toothpick from a Swiss Army Knife) has always fixed them.

I have, and it's helped before but not this time. I managed a temporary fix of sticking the cable in and wedging it against the wall and my heavy mouse pad so it's pushed in well and I can get it to charge that way. It's a temporary fix until I can get a new one in a month or 2.

I know it's like a $20 job to change the port myself but the data on it has also stopped working unless I'm on WiFi, so I'm just ready for a new phone.

Got my motorcycle dug out from the shed that collapsed on it over the winter. The roof was "held up" by one side of the handlebars. So the bar is now bent to the point it runs into my knee on corners that direction, and will gash the tank if you keep turning it. Lost a mirror. And the battery can only hold enough charge to start it if it's warm. But, it's operational, which is better than I expected after several hundred pounds of ice melted over that roof and poured down right on top of the bike due to the break of said roof.

Now an appointment for the poor thing. I got her cleaned up, and took her for a spin yesterday. Now she needs new bars, new mirrors, new cables, new hoses, fluid changes, new battery, and a few new lights. Oi. Gonna be a spendy winter recovery this year for the poor thing.

all my stuff's boxed up. I'm done with work until the 26th.
.... yep. I'm gettin' reaaaaaal bored

Can't buy anything until I move. I already took a long nap. Ain't nothing to watch. Pretty much everything is ready to go for my move now minus a couple of things I'll do next week.

bah! How do people live with this "free time" as you call it. 🤔
