Did a resonator delete on exhaust system of my MK6 Golf GTI, and also deleted the snow guard from stock intake box and added a K&N filter. Now it opens up really nicely when you put on throttle, and has louder DSG farts when up shifting  It also has stage 1 re-map on ecu, which I did on a workshop last october. It's starting to be a fun little car instead of bone stock and boring what those cars are.

So, finally bought that sports car I've wanted since I saw Fast and Furious when I was 10, and getting hardcore back into cars. I saw this series on youtube

And now I'm not sure if I want to build the car I want now, or the car I always wanted as a teenager.

Just a heads up for car guys that have a mom with the same dream car. They don't mean it when they ask how fast it is. This has always been my definition of fast.

According to google...there's a .3 second difference in 0-60 times. It's not my fault that when you asked how fast is it I thought you wanted a demonstration.

Would anyone happen to know if there's an easy fix for the ambient temperature sensor on a Ford Focus mk3? Mine is showing about 10°C more than the actual temperature is. It's not completely broken, but it kinda seems like something is blocking it. In this car, the sensor is integrated into the passenger side mirror and I have a feeling a pheasant (not peasant, lol) may have run into it or something, as the mirror was pointing completely wrong one day a couple of weeks ago.

My wife well victim to the

south-park-old-people-driving-1689620461.gif

Old lady spent forever explaning to the cops how she couldn't see anymore, that's why she had to slam on her breaks, but instead of realizing somone wasn't capable of driving anymore, Social Security doesn't give that much money, lets see how much reveue we can get off each person and that's who's at fault.

Bought a new daily back in July (BMW) to replace the old shitbox daily (Scion). Huge upgrade

2007 328i. 6-speed with the N51 engine and no factory options other than I believe leather interior. Honestly, it's the perfect BMW. Cheap consumables, very little electronic interior fuckery to go wrong, and because it has the N51 (low emission version of the N52) parts of the drivetrain are actually still under warranty. I repainted all the bumper grills, recleared the headlights, and added 20/13mm spacers F/R. Was tempted to pick up some OEM 17in wheels but the 16s have grown on me after the spacers. The car is fun enough to keep me from driving my AP2 every day and kinda has me thinking about selling both cars to get an E90 M3.

Also did about 3k miles of road trips in early 2022. San Diego to the Bay Area along the coast stopping every 3-5 hours for food/drinks/lodging. I originally bought this car to get into motorsports, but this environment is where it shines. No roof (soft top and motors deleted, hardtop left at home), semi-compliant spring rates, stupid exhaust and cams, and sticky tires make for an extremely engaging street car if you're willing to drive like a shitbag. Which I did . HWY 1 from San Luis Obispo to Santa Cruz is an absolute riot at 8/10s. Blasting through the redwoods at 8,000 RPM with ocean views. All super aggressive 1-3 gear stuff where your hands are shaking and you need a cigarette after the drive. I loved it so much that I had to do it a second time a few months later.

I fell in love with cars in high school because going fast is cool, and they gave 17-year-old me the ability to chase adventure instead of sitting around my hometown. It felt great to chase that again as an adult. 5 days off work with no goal other than seeing my parents in Northern California. How I got there and back just depended on the route and whenever I decided it was time for seafood and beer.

The central coast of California is gorgeous:

My neighbor helped me reinstall the hardtop and took some pictures with his 6-speed E46 wagon:

The car has sat since my wife gave birth at the end of February. She supports me keeping it, but there's a part of me wanting something fast and fun with 4-doors so I can start sharing the experience with my daughter. A well-maintained E90 M3 would be nice, and the new Type-R is also super appealing (at sticker price at least), but I'm afraid whatever I buy will be disappointing. Practically everything is faster than the S2000, but there isn't much out there that's as high-strung and manic.

Don't get rid of the S2k. They don't make cars like that anymore and modern regs ensure they never will.

Modern cars have to be ultra fast just have a half decent chance of not being boring.. doesn't matter how much money you throw at it, the equivalent car from the mid-2000s to early 2010s will be a better drivers car imo.

Do get a fun daily but don't spend mega bucks on it, your kids are gonna beat the shit out of it. They're gonna be too young to get it for a long time, just buy used and keep your blood pressure down lol. I got a B8 A4. Last gen with the 6 speed. Peppy enough to be fun, sporty but not too stiff.

Thought about an S4 but I don't want a car payment so I would have had to sell the RX7. The best 4 door in the world is still a grocery getter compared to a 2 seater. Goes double when the 2 seater has no roof lol. Even selling now with the intention to get back in later.. prices are rising meteoric. Call it an investment to keep it

Annual inspection time tomorrow, wish me luck!

My car passed the inspection, fuck yeah...

But...

Because the law regarding windshields changed at the end of last year, now I have to have mine changed... It's had a crack in it since I bought the car, and so far it's been OK since it doesn't block visibility in any way, but now the law has changed such that there can't be any cracks in the area where the windshield wipers operate.

Yeah, it's not the most expensive repair to do, but still, annoying.

I just realized a few weeks ago that I've only ever seen one since launch...and only because I saw a 370, and it reminded me, "Oh hey...that's right, there's a new one..."

Ya, one time I was getting gas and a dude came up and was in love with my Z, so we were talking about them because he's a Z fanatic and has owned at least one of every generation, and he asked why I bought a 370 instead of the new one....

aahhh man! That makes me miss my old 370z. It was hands down the most fun car I've ever owned. ...now i just have a jeep that drives like a turtle, but ya know... living in canada... the old 370z convertible just wasn't good up here ⛄
