Tell me the driest (least saturated), most open/raw (least compressed), tightest (least bass) amps.

The Vengeance and Armageddon were really underrated amps. A shame they had quality problems and faded into obscurity. Always wanted an Armageddon.
What was the difference between the Vengeance and the Armageddon? When they were out, I remember everyone saying they liked the Armageddon because it was the more brutal of the two. But I never know what that means, lol.

I was just thinking... Since the driest amps that came to my head are old Marshalls and Voxes, but none of them are brutal or tight enough... What about boosting them with a tube boost? The Blackstar Dept.10 Boost is a fantastic pedal that doesn't change the feel or response of the amp when boosting. It feels and sounds like if the amp had extra gain stages, and you have the treble and bass controls to adjust the EQ curve to taste.

Boost part starts at 4:40

Best booster for the money: Metalzone (+you have 3 band eq with parametric mids) ...

Sounds like you want a Marshall or something based on a modded marshall platform like a friedman. My favorite sound is just like others have said, an SD-1 into a 2204

From what I remember the Armageddon had an extra channel with a shared eq and the isp decimator noise gate built in. Similar sound but the Armageddon was more gainy?
