So I'd like to find some pickups for my Jackson Slat7-FF (25.5-27), which came with EMG-808 pickups, without having to have some new customs made (just cause I'm cheap or a bargain hunter or whatever).....so....QUESTION: Can I used other standard 8-string pickups, like the soapbar BKP aftermaths I found used on reverb.com or will the pole spacing make it sound like crap?

as long as they fit in the pickup cavity, then yes, you can use them. Lining up the pickup poles isn't hugely critical as far as sound goes imo. the poles tend to have decent magnetic fields so unless it's really far off it should not affect the sound. It's more of an aesthetic issue when the poles are visible.

REALLY?!?!?! That's fantastic cause I was thinking that I'd be limited to either actives or customs which greatly limits my buying options on the used market!!!!
