Just an FYI of a really strong sale I stumbled on.

Sweetwater has a Jazzmaster at $339, originally $500, and I was about to buy but decided to do a quick double check and found the same guitar on proaudiostar.com for $280.

There’s tons of other squier guitars too. I’m just bored and wanted to try something different that’s not pricey to see if I’d like that type of guitar.

My friend swears the Squier Classic Vibe stuff is accurate dimensionally to the original fenders of the time that they’re replicating.

Also, they’re going for more used than new too. Easy flip if I don’t dig it.

@Gmork any issues with the cv jm? I was gonna get one of the anniversary runs but 6 had issues not worth $800 to me. Strats and teles seemed fine.

I got one of the CME run CV Jags they did last year. It's pretty nice but even my mid 2000's mexi strat is significantly better in every way. It sounds fine and is cosmetically pretty solid, but it definitely could've used some more attention to the fret polishing out of the box.

Welp, both the Shoreline Gold Contemporary Tele and Jazzmaster are out of stock, so I think that satisfied my GAS as quickly as it struck

Im pretty sure mine is a 2022. But where are ya getting $800? On the L&M site theyre only $590. Ill admit im not much of a stickler as some but i see nothing wrong with it at all. I think it feels great and sounds wicked. But maybe its because im not use to HIGHEND stuff

Anni model was $789 or something. Block inlays and gold hardware. We unboxed one and the upper strap pin wasnt even in it. The staff said they had been having some issues with pandemic guitars.

Just got my Affinity Tele, and so far I love it. Can't find any major flaws besides one iffy fret that's not TOO bad. I can probably fix it in my free time, but right now the action is comfortably low enough.
Besides some nitpicks such as the 9.5'' radius and medium-jumbo frets (I prefer at least 12'' radius and XJ frets), It's a keeper. Even the pickups sound pretty damn good. I'd buy a 2nd one for sure for the $180 that they're being sold at ATM, but I'm still waiting for the Epi refund from Zzounds, plus I don't need any standard-scale six-strings ATM... Just a baritone. A Cabronita sounds nice...

Why'd the epi go back?

Still waiting to get my Squier Classic Vibe 60's in Sonic Blue but already started looking at anodized pickguards on Amazon. Hoping it's a direct fit.

Also investigating running it with the intended heavy set flat wound strings.

Only concern is that the flats will kill the gain tone but the flats are suppose to make it more stable with the bridge per Leo's design.

So far the only mods I can think of doing are replacing the bridge pickup, maybe check out the pots (Squier sometimes uses 250k on buckers), and replace the tuners. Bridge pickup sounds okay, but is a bit weak. Need a bit more heat. But if you like lower-output pickups with 250k pots, you'd probably be fine with this stock tbh.

Fender-branded pin-mount tuners work on Squiers without mods, correct?

Was also thinking black pickguard... But I think the bright white pickguard fits the color better.

No, unfortunately. At least the last time I changed some out the Squier only had a one pin setup on the back of the tuner and the Fenders use a two pin setup. Still pretty easy to mod and get in there though.....

You got me a bit curious so I was able to pull off the tuner a bit with the string still on (I just replaced the strings, didn't wanna ruin them  ) and it looks like they're Fender-style 2-pin mount.

Well that's good to see, I was kinda pissed the couple times I had to mod the headstock to fit.

Yeah the Squier prices at PAS are crazy lately. I got a contemporary strat special and the telecaster baritone for $279 each. I have to stop myself from checking that site or I will have piles of Squiers.

I've had some "high end" guitars that were less impressive than a good Squier CV.

Finally got mine! Grabbed an anodized pickguard too. $330 total into this. Pretty stoked. I plan to keep everything else stock.

I did grab a 3 pack of shims per many recommendations to shim the Jazz Master neck.
