...yeah, this is happening:

Now that the body is sanded down to 300, I'm going to assemble it and determine if I need to scallop the heel and/or horn. I've got to drill all the wiring holes, but if I can do that without screwing it up I may just oil finish it and call it a day.

Looks like a beefy body. Did you make the neck yourself? Kinda looks like the Jackson 4+3 headstock

It's actually the same size as a Jackson Dinky, so pretty small. Both the body and the neck are Musikraft - the bodies (I have two) were prototypes of this shape and needed a considerable amount of work. The headstock is the Jamerson 4+3 they offer on their 7 string necks.

Nice! I have a Musikraft parts 7 as well. I dont have the skills to have put it together, but the guy who did had to do a lot of extra work as well to get things to fit together correctly and actually intonate.

Yours is looking absolutely killer.

Huh, I honestly had no idea Musikraft did 7-strings. Did the neck need any work? Or just finishing?

:urge to stick with Soloists rising:

Looks good. Got a plan on the finish?

This one will probably just be oiled, since I may carve chunks out of it later if the lack of scallops on the back and horn bothers me.

The other body I have will be getting something crazy after I figure out all the changes.

Just finishing so far - the frets look pretty good, actually.

They apparently only do the necks now, and only when they're not swamped.

Obviously I haven't checked intonation yet - next week I'll be putting it together and doing some test runs - but the neck dropped right in the pocket with no issues and looks like it measures right, so,

Hopefully it works out! Musikraft screwed something up with my body. The luthier had to move the neck pocket back and the bridge mounting forward to get it to work. I complained and Musikraft just shrugged.

That does seem to be their MO.

Oops, the neck pocket and the bridge needed to be moved back, if I'm remembering right. And they drilled the Floyd stud super close to the cavity, so it would have blown out anyway. Just a mess.

The neck is very very nice, though.

This probably has something to do with them no longer doing much in the way of bodies.

So, some updates:
20210607_173048.jpg 20210607_174539.jpg

I added the Floyd nut and tuners.

20210607_173114.jpg 20210607_173119.jpg

I drilled all the wiring holes without punching through anything! I can't believe it.

I also put the Sophia stabilized block on the Floyd.

Assembly should be happening soon, like tonight/tomorrow, and we'll see how it plays.

Let us know how the Sophia is... I've been curious about buying one (or many ).
