Saw this guitar used at GC today. They want $650, it has a set of Seymour Duncan Black Winter pickups & comes with the original prestige HS case. As for the guitar itself, it seems to be pretty much brand new. Even still has plastic over the covers on the back. Is that a fair price?

More than fair. I paid 600 shipped, stock for a non-original case + a few(barely any, very small, but still there) dings.

If I had the money, I'd instantly buy it.

Yes, but make them an offer. I've never paid exactly what GC was asking for a used guitar. Even if it's $10 less, that's $10 in your pocket :)

More than fair for a minty RGA121. I wouldn't even try to haggle them down any further, especially with the pickup upgrade.

    Jump on that man! :)

Oh baby, there's even light birdseye in that top. Grab it.

Seems pretty fair to me, especially with the Black Winter pickups. I would always try and haggle them down a little further (especially when you have to factor in that you're paying tax on it) but if they wont budge $650 is worth it.

Grab that thing and hold on to it tight. Then you can sell it to me if I ever come up with the money.

Exactly, not like they're going to hear the offer and yell, "GET OUT OF MY STORE!!!" :) Worth a shot.

Alright, well, after tax it was $708 :wallbash: However, I just put 180 down on it so I can pick it up after I sell a couple other guitars. They've literally only had the guitar out for sale for about a week, so they weren't gonna budge on the price at all considering it's awesome condition. I also wanted this one specifically because of the birds eye thing going on with the top & none of the other 121's I've seen online have had that. I'm typically more of a DiMarzio guy, so you may see those pickups up for trade soon in the classifieds unless they're totally amazing. D Activator X anyone??

Honestly I am a Dimarzio guy as well, but Duncan's work better in RGA's. Give the Black Winters a shot, although they may be a bit bright.

So today was kind of a weird day at GC. I went in to make a $450 payment on the RGA & had them bring it out so I could check it out again. Well, this was my first time actually seeing the case & it was NOT the J. Craft case. It was just a normal M100C case. Bummer. Then upon closer inspection, the SD Black Winter pickups are regular spaced, rather than F-spaced, so the pole pieces are too narrow. Really, though, I'm more bummed about the case than the pickups, as I was planning on selling those & buying a set of DiMarzio Titans anyway. The case, however, kind of irked me because I was really looking forward to the J. Craft. So I took it up with the sales manager & he said they couldn't discount the guitar since it's used & they hadn't had it for hardly even a week. What he decided to do in order to try to make it right is that when I go in to pick up the guitar on the 23rd, he's going to let me pick out $50 worth of free shit in the store. Why he can't just give me a $50 gift card to apply toward the guitar? I have no idea. So...the deal got real weird real quick, but I guess that's what we're doing. I almost called the whole thing off, but there are no RGA121's on Craigslist OR ebay right now & I need a 6 string, as I sold mine to pay for this one. :wallbash:

Forgive me; does the spacing REALLY matter that much?

Yeah my NTF has a very light fretboard with nice grain and my TKF has a real dark board. Pretty cool
