Serious question - is this a joke?

I am 100% on board with this. I feel like the entire song could have been written around AI generated lyrics.

Once again don't be surprised. He's 100% AI-pilled

They lost their songwriter. They managed to squeak out one more album afterward by emulating classic metal but it was very clear that the ideas died with the Rev. Kinda surprised they're still trying tbh - must be a money thing.

Yeah, writing weird prog songs instead of rehashing all the shit that made them huge back in the day is generally the route bands go when they’re trying to make more money.

I think the thing I find the funniest about the hate these guys get is when they put out City Of Evil there were so many people bitching about the lack of clean vocals, solos and musicianship in metal/hard rock. While I loved the NWOAHM, a lot of people my age or older fucking hated it.

So A7X comes out and releases this album full of ridiculous musicianship, sounding nothing like any of their peers, no screaming, plenty of harmony solos and non-traditional arrangements and were immediately met with “FUCKING POSERS!”

They’ve been producing their own music since then, taking risks and never really repeating themselves while somehow keeping their fanbase in tact. There’s plenty of songs of theirs I don’t dig at all but I have nothing but respect for them.

Hell, they’re putting out weird music now that is the opposite of radio friendly/catchy and people are still trying to claim they’re “selling out” or just in it for the money.

I mean, they could definitely be releasing this music - which is a complete departure from anything they've released in their 20 years of existence - under a different side project name. Bands do it all the time, you've got your liquid tension experiments, your prize fighter infernos etc. They aren't because in order to make money off it they need the A7x name. In order to have people pay to see it live, they have to put it in between their old stuff that people are really paying to see. I like Avenged Sevenfold, but I don't think the criticisms of these new wacky out there songs are invalid.

As a fan, I would prefer they let their good work stand for itself and lay the band down and move on. I feel the same about Metallica and In Flames and many other bands that lost what made them work along the way.

Ok just had a chance to listen to the track and imo that was written by AI. It’s like “not a song”. Like it’s digital parts with strange pauses that are like “parts” of a song. Like an ai reviewer their sound and tried to recreate bits of the “formula” with no ability to resolve the tension or create a flow.

I don’t even hate it. If this almost dj/dubstep? (Not really but you know what I mean) sound is their target then is definitely something different.

It just doesn’t feel like how a person would write anything. The pauses in particular are pretty disjointed.

All he needs to do is sell it as an NFT and make it to where you buy the album exclusively with crypto, and A7X will have reached M. Shadows dream of peak douche silicone valley techbro.
