Title pretty much says it all. Post up your bitchin’ (or terrible) home recorded cover tunes.

It’s probably helpful to add a quick gear rundown/signal chain etc. so that we can hear how the latest and greatest : plugins, Axe patch, Kemper Profile, amp n mic : sound with a particular setup.

This was a few years ago, before I knew anything about mixing. (not that I'm a pro now!) . These fall under "terrible"

shitty old guitar with shitty pickups // line 6 hd500 // reaper // yamaha dtx digital drums (mt power drummer free drum vst i think) // blue yeti mic

I played everything. I did vox on the green day song. My buddy did vox on the silverchair songs. A different buddy and I did vox on the nargaroth song. I'm not a good singer.

green day - geek stink breath :
    silverchair - freak :
    silverchair - findaway :
    Nargaroth - 7 tears... :

I think those recordings sound great. The bass is punchy and doesn’t fight the drums. I would be happy making records with that sound quality. Nice job, man. You should do a new cover with your current skill set. Bonus points to whoever was wearing that old White Zombie tee shirt in the photo. I had that shirt in high school haha

That little amp works well for this sound. What mods were done to it?

thx, changed lots of caps/resistors in the preamp for a tighter and more high-mid focused sound to get rid of the need of a boost pedal, and installed a choke.

I might do a little instructional video somedays when i think i'm done with experimenting, but right now i think this litte thing sounds pretty great^^

    Blut Aus Nord cover.

A little overcooked with compression in mastering, but sounds alright. Probably better production than the original, lol.

Guitars quad tracked -- two with SD Nazgul in the bridge, two with SD Black Winter bridge. Cleans used the Black Winter neck. >>> MXR M77 OD >>>> Peavey 6505 120 watt head >>> Mic'd to Eminence Governor >>> Presonus Audiobox USB. No vocals because you can't understand a single word in the original and lyrics were never printed, haha.

I’m not familiar with Blur Aus Nord but I definitely love me some Bloodbath. Nice work. Chainsaw in full force!

I did a quick cover of the new architects song
I kind of rushed the video because I had to work unexpectedly and wanted to just get the vid done lol. I did the bass and drum programming super late as well so not perfect. The video has a ton of info on what I used :)
    The most ERG I have is a 6-string in 25.5" scale soooo..... that's what I used :)

This is something i remixed last night before work. I recently joined the "low gain crushes 5150 tone club" at least in my GSP1101  as well as testing out a new bass tone i came up with in BIAS. It's a cover of Dream Theater's "Pull Me Under". No vocals yet, but i plan on doing that sometime this week/weekend.

And the winner for lowest tuned 6 string goes to:... Do you actually tune your guitar down that low or are you using a detune pedal/software? Either way it sounded tight, much better than I’d expect F# on a 25.5” to sound. SD3 sounds excellent as well. Nice work man

I’d love to hear vocals with this. I REALLY like the drums on this recording. Bass is punchy and sits well. That synth is awesome, and yeah, low gain can sound huge with the right picking technique. I really enjoyed this.

Thanks dude :wavey: I recently switched from Superior Drummer 3 to Perfect Drums. Sounds ass-backwards, but something about the samples in Perfect Drums just sound fuller and more realistic to me. And i have to thank you dude, because if you hadn't made this thread i wouldn't have thought about my other cover project, "Separate Ways". Believe it or not, this sounds gnarly as fuck tuned down to B Standard. I actually did it about 3 and a half years ago, but i've since actually learned how to record at least close to correctly compared to haha

Thanks!! Zero pitch shifting, brotherdude. I think I used a 0.63 as well for the F#. whatever the thickest string I had laying around.

Here's a cover of Rainbow Gravity by Periphery that I a few months ago: https://soundcloud.com/chukwu-uduka/periphery-rainbow-gravity Being my first cover, I like how it turned out, but there are some things in the mix I'd go back and change.

I don't have a 7 string (yet) so I just used my Ibanez Iron Label 6 with EMGs for rhythm, solo and cleans I used my RG1421. Bass is an Ibanez GSR205, all tones are thru a POD HD. Drums are Steven Slate Drums 4.
