RG8 max string gauge without drilling

    Could not find a specific thread about this. In short:
    what´s the maximum string gauge (for the lowest string) you were able to stick thru the hole on the back of the RG8 without having to drill there? I´m not talking about the tuners.
    I had no problems with the 080 of the EB Skinny Top Heavy Bottom set but would like to replace it with a 085 or 095 single string from DAddario soon.

    I put a 94 on my RG8 when I had it. The tuners where the only problem.

    I had to drill tuner post to get an .80 to fit on the 8th

    85 is the biggest I got to fit without drilling anything

    If you can fit it through the saddle area anything will work, unwind the end of the string between the nut and the tuner(snip off the excess winds). Have fun.
