I recently saw a purple Majesty on Reverb. The owner completely sanded down the neck to its bare wood with a messy and abrupt change from finish to no finish. Looked atrocious.

Let me guess, was the owner still selling it at full price? Did he attach some bullshit lingo like mojo or added character?

Not that I recall. He still priced it $2k, which would be a great price if he hadn't screwed it up. I picked up a mint condition 2021 Majesty 7 a couple of months ago for $2500. No idea if the $500 difference between a mint example and ballsed-up one would cover the cost of getting that guy's purple Majesty restored.

That "if he hadn't screwed it up" is a real kick in the balls with price. Color me surprised if current 2025 pricing would let that break even with the job alone from those who still would and could for this sort of repair work, there's still the other kick in the balls of time spent, time wasted just to patch it up if that's what the buyer wanted.
