Just got back from our bands first rehearsal with real drums and amps... The classic Peavey/Mesa combo did good, it was a joy to play some cranked tube heads after writing and woodshedding for so long. I did miss the advantage of having a 4x12 with the top speakers slanted but the convenience of a couple of 2x12s is nice! Will definitely work out a way to angle the cabs next time.
Got the new Laney amp set up with the other gear, starting to take shape nicely.
Really impressed with the Laney so far, incredible variety when you work with the pre amp volume's and master volume. Combine that with the extra push/pull functionality some of the control knobs have and it does wildly different tones.
Most likely gonna ditch the BOSS HM3 because its a very fuzz based pedal, Ive found the Laney amp is fuzzy sounding by default so its a bit overbearing if you drive it too hard with the pedal. Hoping to replace it with a Maxon SM9 in the future.
At some point, I'll make a proper thread for the Gemini it but until then, here's my current rig. First picture is when I just got the amp and second one is after I've reshuffled my pedalboard. Sorry about the quality of the pictures, my rehearsal spot's lighting isn't really optimal for that
Guitar: Jackson WR7
Amplifier: KSR Gemini
Cabinet: Custom made oversized 4x12" with WGS HM75 speakers
Pedalboard:
- Joyo PXL Live pedal controlling the amplifier's channels through midi and the pedals
- EHX Silencer noisegate in 4 cables wiring
- Donner DT-1 Tuner
I've finally completed and wired the board. I'm thinking of resurecting old arduino project to build midi switchable TB loop for the boost in front of Ceres. Not quite sure if Fortin 33 is the best match, need to spend more time with it
