After having bought a stupid amount of delays and reverbs, I think I'm good for a while. Latest change is the Strymon Volante. This thing sounds great. Before I bought the Volante, I found a great deal on the EQD Disaster Transport Sr. I'll most likely stick with the Volante though. Finally time to start selling off some of the reverbs and delays I acquired over the years. The only one I'll for sure hang on to is the EQD Ghost Echo. That's still one of my favorites.

I'm liking the condensed board so far. Simple and to the point. The only things I may add at some point are a noise gate/suppressor and/or a chorus. We'll see where the wind takes me.

My small acoustic board is also done for now. I'll have to get a shot of that later.
Any board with an Afterneath on it gets approval from me.

The Volante is maybe my favorite pedal ever. It's currently off my board because it's so huge but I can't bring myself to sell it. I replaced it with the Keeley Andy Timmons delay, which is also great, but I think I need to bring the Volante back.

Just about every reverb and/or delay from Empress, EQD, TC Electronics, Boss, Eventide, Strymon, Line 6, Mr Black and possibly a couple other brands that aren't coming to mind at the moment.

The embarrassing part is I don't even use reverb or delay all that much. Focus would have been better spent elsewhere. I've been trying to avoid the thought of venturing into different overdrive pedals. The EQD Palisades keeps me at bay with all of its options... For now.
I am the same way, lol. I have been getting a stupid amount of delay pedals lately. Between pedals to buy, or pedals I have built. I just built 3 more last week.

Now I want to get more reverbs. I have a few, and have built a few, but looking at something with more fidelity, like a UA Golden Reverberator.

But then I tell myself, new cabs would have a greater impact.... but... reverb!! :D
Me three, I cannot stop buying pedals, especially delays and flangers (for some reason). I also have way too many overdrives and the like too:wallbash:

Current state after trying out some new things. I've got aux switches for both the Nemesis and Specular Tempus inbound as well. Expect to see some things for sale soon. @budda where are your listings?

If you want something that takes up less space than the Volante that's just as good (better IMO) the GFI Solis Ventus is incredible

Earlier today I happened to be in an area with a music store that has a really nice pedal selection. Tried a few overdrive pedals and there was one that really stood out. Never heard of the brand before but it was that impressive I had to get it. A/B'ed it against the existing EQD Palisades. The Palisades is already off and the new OD is on the board. The pedal is the Jam Tubedreamer. It's an 808 style OD with a tone knob that's more of a midrange control as opposed to the typical tone knob control. I'll have to check out more from this company.

@Guitarmiester what were you trying to find? That is a fair chunk of pedals so Im very curious what the destination was and how the journey went :yesway:

I run everything in front of my amp (Mesa Badlander 100), including delay and reverb. When I first started the delay hunt I was using the Boss DD-20 which I still think is a great delay. I wanted something a little darker that wouldn't be too in your face with more than one repeat. The closest I got to that was the EQD Disaster Transport (the version just below the Sr). This worked really well for a while except it always felt a little too dark. Several delays later I landed on the Empress delays. I have the Tape Delay and Super Delay (limited grey model). The Super Delay was more delay than I needed. Tape mode was super nice and there's the optional filters that helped the delay sit where I wanted it to. I bought the Empress Tape after the SuperDelay for the smaller footprint plus I was really only using the SuperDelay for its tape mode.

The Empress stayed on my board for years even while buying and trying other delays. Once I got the EQD Dispatch Master, it kicked off the reverb trail. I didn't go all that crazy with reverb pedals since I really liked the voicing of the EQD pedals. The Ghost Echo was a pleasant surprise and has been my favorite to this day. The Strymon Volante didn't come into the picture until a couple months ago. Saw one in store, tried it and instantly liked it. The low cut filter was a huge plus since I run my delays in front of the amp. I'd still prefer the Ghost Echo's reverb over the Strymon but I'm all for simplicity. The Strymon has delay and reverb in one. No need for another reverb on the board. The Afterneath is a bit of an exception for what it does.

The Volante is maybe my favorite pedal ever. It's currently off my board because it's so huge but I can't bring myself to sell it. I replaced it with the Keeley Andy Timmons delay, which is also great, but I think I need to bring the Volante back.

I've seen the Keeley Timmons delay but haven't tried it. Already had the Volante at that point otherwise there's a good chance I'd have bought that, too.

They're some of my favorite pedals, I had to move the BHS out of the loop for my gate (under the board) because it was gating the delay too much no matter the settings. The Nocturnal is beautifully eerie especially when the shimmer on the verb is turned down. I run the delays for both units quite extreme and near self-oscillation for the noise-lover in me.

I can do some demos with them if you'd like.

The GFI stuff is so good. The Specular Tempus only has a 100mA draw compared to some other pedals, I'm sure the Solis is higher due to being dual engine (but I'm sure it's worth it, if you can find one).

Jam pedals make some really cool stuff. Delay llama, rattler, Wahcko…
Unfortunately they are pricy, but the company from my interactions have been top notch.

Yeah Jam City does pedals as well as 50s gibson conversions and iirc builds. Only recently did i find out it was both lol. Hes in Ohio iirc.

@Guitarmiester if you wanted eq’d repeats I coulda saved you time with the dd500 or timeline. I run in front too and light eq on reverb and delay was the next level for live.

@ThePhilosopher yeah clips are cool. Not really in the market especially for the real estate but they seem interesting. I just already have pedals that can combine to do what CD does, i think.

I looked up their pedal line once I got home yesterday. Might have to run back over to try a few more that look interesting. I did try the waterfall chorus/vibrato while I was there and had no clue it was a Jam pedal. Ironically, I was on the fence about buying the waterfall and left it on the table to think about. Their wahcko wah sounds really good based on videos I've watched. I've been thinking of throwing a way back on my board. I still have my old Dunlop 535Q that's been on and off the board. Have been contemplating replacing it with something newer. The wahcko may be the winner.

I probably should have posted for recommendations years ago. That would have provided some relief on the wallet. Still fun to try out variations of pedals. The bulk of my gas shifted to another hobby (astrophotography) that I recently ventured into.

How do you typically set your delay mix and repeats? It's not often I come across others that run delay up front. Years ago there was one band we played with where the guitar player also ran his delays in front. Pretty sure that was the last time I've seen anyone else running this way. I'd be interested to hear any examples of how yours sounds.

@guitarmeister yep I have some examples.

my last album with this band (our two JCM800 2203's and various pedals, no fx loop here). We ran drive pedals for dirt until 2017/2018? when we ran bi-amp setups with twins and 2203's.

thought there was a proper live vid or two but I guess not  (IG posts mostly I guess).

Current setup (spacey vid, I'll probably make a pedalboard vid tomorrow since I just changed the order). I keep the repeats a little shorter these days and the mix isnt too heavy, but none of my current delays have the tone sculpting options I used before (dd500, timeline, fx8).

Damn you got the two Plumes/Blumes variants I've been wanting lately lol. The cast iron is so sick.

How do you like the Blumes compared to the Plumes?

To anybody who's tried one: how close does Mode 3 on the Plumes get to a Tube Screamer? Running a TS-9 at the moment and didn't realize how little space I had on the board to fit it on there. Want something slightly smaller with top-mount jacks, and the Plumes is the cheapest option, but I'm worried that it won't have enough of that mid-range "honk." My Friedman IR-X actually loves that extra midrange for high-gain tones and turns it into a monster.

Honestly very little time with it so far. I have loved the Plumes for years in the Helix and very excited to get to know both real pedals. I have been using the Devil Drive as my main OD since its release and love it.

Ibanez makes a Mini TS.
