Instead of going for a super high wattage class D deal, they went for a mid-wattage (by solid state standards. 100w) class A/B design.

It's fairly pricey, $400, for what it is, but it is adorable.

So many poweramps to try these days. What class is the SD Powerstage 170 and 700?

I'm pretty sure I read they were D when they first came out, but I can't find the article anywhere.

I know the Stealth is A/B.

That makes me want to avoid the SD. Every class D poweramp I’ve tried next to the Mosvalve has sounded underwhelming at best.

Maybe i’ll actually check out this orange when i get a chance

And i never got to try the stealth but i did try the stealth lite with the bass and treble controls. It was a decent poweramp amp for its size.

IME with Class D, you need A LOT more power than you're going to actually use to get a good sound. The closer they get to their output, the "softer" they start to sound, like transients aren't coming fast enough or something.

Manual says class D, which is odd because I can get more out of that 150W amp than I could out of a 500W class D rack amp.

Very unimpressive (in terms of tone) when put up against the Kemper poweramp--at least in this video. Much preferred the sound of the Kemper poweramp.

I would hope so! Isn't the Kemper power amp like 600W or something?

They seemed to suggest (if I remember correctly) that the Orange was louder. My comment was more in terms of overall tone (when they had the volume at regular levels, not when they were gunning each).

The 600W amp is going to have a lot more headroom to get the same volume out of the cab so it will probably sound cleaner, and surely there is something of a tonestack that is on the input of the Orange, even if it's at "neutral" positions. These crappy little computer speakers I have at work are not giving me much of a difference.

Well one thing that is clear to anyone that used different power amps with a Kemper. The Pedal Baby and the power amp in the Kemper are going to sound different with the same profiles. This doesn’t mean you have to go in and tweak every profile, you just have to get used to the new power amp.

I had the same when I switched from the ART SLA to the 44 Magnum. It was just slight. By no means is it a step down. Also it’s worth considering that power Kemper owners won’t have any use for this, but unpowered owners like me will. Especially for those of us who are also pedal fiends!

Sounded like the Kemper was distorting the Pedalbaby?

    Yeah something sounded off.
Maybe the line level was too high? Like maybe the line-out isn’t the same as the signal being fed to the kemper’s power section

I think they could have done a better job with the name, not that it really matters lol.

Eventually someone will make a poweramp that mounts under a pedaltrain. That’ll be the day
