Criss Oliva's wife died. Tragic.
And on a related note, Jon looks like total shit now:
That's soooo sad.
John is looking worse and worse these days. he was pretty damn big at metal fest last year too...
Criss Oliva, former guitarist for Savatage. Killed by a drunk driver. His wife was in the car with him, and she just barely lived. Now she's passed away.
Criss was a killer guitar player, better than most.
Jon(the picture) is his brother. Used to be the lead singer of Savatage.
Dawn was found in her home yesterday afternoon by family members.
Oh man, it sound like she committed suicide. How sad.
I loved Criss Oliva. He meant the world to me when I was getting into progressive music. I did a track with an old band of mine covering Hall of the Mountain King for an ill-fated Criss tribute CD a few years ago too.
Man, what a sad story, all of this.
As for Jon, he has a problem. He needs counselling. He's not going to live very long at that weight.
You need to click on these two links and buy these two albums...... and may you never have to ask that question again.
Amazon.com: Savatage - Edge of Thorns $9.98
Amazon.com: Savatage - Gutter Ballet $9.98
Gutter Ballet is AWESOME, he's got a style and tone all of his own...sadly missed...
From what i remember reading, he was walking down the street and the guy swerved up on the sidewalk and hit him?
I remember it got just a small little paragraph in the guitar mags of the time, they didn't(and still don't) care about anyone not trendy.
I have both and are truly amazing albums. I had the tapes orginally.
I have a pro video of them from '95, live in Japan. Zak and Jon both sing on the song "Gutter Ballet"... it's absolutely incredible!!
FWIW, I'm creating a thick, 7-string nu-metal version of the song "Damien" from Edge of Thorns for my next album. I love Savatage.
