Nuno has been saying in interviews that this album has been done for years but that they were looking for a label, blah blah blah.... I wonder just how old this track actually is.

I love that Extreme comes essentially out of nowhere and has a better song than Metallica's newest three. And I don't really care for this.

Also Nuno's solo is so much better than the beaten to death Hammett solo. And I love Metallica.

To be fair, Nuno is a guitarist on a much, much higher plane than Kirk.

Without question.

But, what I'm getting at is that Kirk hasn't improved and that's depressing for how "BIG" they are.

In fact, hearing the new solo you can hear how labored it is, like he even had trouble playin what he wrote, himself.

Sucks.

If that's true then yeah, some songs could be as old as 2010 or as recent as 2017.

Checking this out as I get time. These guys seem pretty down to earth although they come from space playing like they do.

I know more of Nuno’s solo/project stuff than Extreme’s music just due to the timing it all came out and my age. Wasn’t overly interested in this song but I figured ‘why not?’ the other night and immediately loved it.

I’m a huge Weiland fan, so those verses hooked me in right away, I love the chorus but I love catchy shit and just when I thought the solo was going on a bit too long, he starts that crazy ass shit and I just shut my mouth and enjoyed it.

Totally going to learn that lick, too fucking cool not to.

Also, I got a kick out of Nuno in that Li vid saying his eyes always look like that…..yeah, cuz you’re always stoned, mawfucka! When he starts talking about tone being in the fingers and playing EVH’s rig, you can blindfold that dude with dental floss.

Finally got through the whole video. I love those guys and how they just keep it real. I love he's not afraid to open up a bit. Their jam was awesome and the storys are pretty amazing too. I'm stoked to jam now. That solo on 'RIse' is cool with some Eddie in there. I'd never attempt it. Probably take 40 hours to get it down. lol. As if I could even play it.

I’m a glutton for punishment!

Really, I’m so sick of the shred stuff and have been for about 20 years after growing up on Vai/Petrucci/instrumental guitar music and this Nuno solo was the first time in 20 years I went “Fuck….I want to practice again…”

He said in the Li vid he intentionally went HAM on the solos for this album since Ed’s gone and ‘while I’m not going to replace Ed, no one is, we need to keep the torch going’ or something to that effect. I’m down with that and I think he absolutely pulled that off with this song. Anxious to hear the rest of the album now!

Never the biggest Extreme fan, but figured I'd give it a shot. Pretty cool tune, really. Grooves. The start of the solo felt like, "OK, everybody stop. STFU! I got something ta say." It almost felt like an entirely different song, though it transitioned back into the song perfectly. Not to say it's a bad solo, I just would have enjoyed it more if it wasn't so up-front with the "WAIT! OK, go."

Nuno is always super inspiring to me as a player, he has such tasty licks and phrasing. Learning some of his stuff really opened up doors in my playing and getting me to break out of my comfort zone with ideas like incorporating string skipping arpeggio patterns. Much love respect to him and Extreme.

Every time I hear a new Metallica song and begin to get into it Kirk comes in and literally shits all over it.It almost seems like he just can't be bothered to come up with an actual coherent solo any more. Not even phoning it in at this point.

I like Nuno, in spite of the rest of it.

Nuno's numerous solo albums tend to be just as good or better than anything from Extreme, although I'll listen to both. Because of Nuno. :agreed:

He's one of my fave guitarists hands down, and no slouch as a singer and songwriter. I've played a top line N4 and need to eventually get one. :hbang:
