Fixing shit tabs has made me better at transcription.

Having one of those days where I spent a bunch of time following a tab and there's a lead run that I worked for a bit of time on. It was later I realized the fingering was off in such a way that it made the transition into the next lick farther away than it needed to be. The tabs transcription worked but was not a smart way to play it. So now I have the "wrong" way to play it committed to muscle memory. Grrr.

I'm gonna fix this shit tab tomorrow and start over on that section -_-

I've had a bunch of days where I'll download a guitar pro tab because I don't play as guitar as much as I want to, and that easier than trying to relearn the song by ear. I'll tweak it to either they play it here, but I play it over here because it's easier for me, or I'll add in my impov bits so I'll remember what they are, and turns out I'll be on my smoke break the next day at work and see a tiktok about how that song I just did up the guitar pro tab so I'll remember how I play it, here's how all the people who learned it by ear are doing it wrong.

This movie has a handful of totally memorable scenes. Got the DVD kicking around but haven't watched it in years, thanks for the reminder!

The last time I thought about that movie...I was hungover and wanted a sausage egg and cheese biscuit and McDonalds tried the sir, me stop serving breakfast at 10:30. Look at my watch, like 10:23, check my phone to make sure my watch is right, because like I said, very hungover. They also wouldn't sell me McNuggies yet, because it wasn't "lunch time" so they couldn't do that yet. I get your not yourself when you're hangry...but the fast food scene was understandable.

I can't remember if I already knew that Kahler made (makes?) multiscale trems. Innnnteresting.

I'm on a first name basis with my local Mexican and Vietnamese restaurants and they know my order as soon as I walk in and they give me a discount and or extra food or a free beer. If you're super white like me and this doesn't happen to you at your local spots then you're definitely not living your life correctly.

They've made those for years. I remember a couple of years before Kiesel/Hipshot came out with their first multiscale trem (which was 2022), and people were asking Jeff about a multiscale trem in one of their Q&As, he showed a Hahler that he had on his desk. It seemed enormous. In retrospect, I guess it's really no bigger or more complex than a Floyd, but it sure looks like it.

edit: Here's a thread about it from 2018, which contains this pic...maybe it is as huge as I initially thought it was...

I don't have a local Vietnamese restaurant, but no mames guey, me and the local Mexican boys are pretty cool. The best was to tell if you are living life correctly is what you get when you ask for spicy.

Speakina lifts.....I'm once again wandering the innerwebs looking at what a small lift for my truck involves and so far I have open questions.....why does a pricey lift just have shocks/struts AND optional UCAs and other lift kits have the whole shebang with the blocks and the cross members, etc but NOT have upgraded UCAs. wtf is going on yo. I guess I need to head to a lift shop and get the skinny.

when the asian lady who scowls at everything in the entire universe didn't charge me for my coffee refill at the local donut shop, I knew I was *in*

Be careful. There are a LOT of shitty long arm and short arm lifts out there that will leave your vehicle driving like shit. My advice is to go with as little lift as you can get away with to be able to fit whatever size tires you're wanting to upgrade to. This is assuming that you're not wanting to actually do much if any off-roading. Also if you do get new tires I would stick with something like an AT over a more aggressive MT tire.... again assuming daily driver and such.

Also... whatever shop you go to is going to try to steer you towards whatever brand they sell the most of or that that they have a sweet relationship with. And that's not always the best route to go. Do lots of research/ read lots of reviews on the shop and the actual lift before going under the knife. Regarding price... some manufacturers are much more involved in R&D than others and they simply tend to cost more because for a multitude of reasons, they're worth it. Some companies have been in the game for decades but will still sell you a shitty entry level kit that you'll have issues with so be cautious.
