And still don't, but there's a hell of a lot more choice now than there used to be so you never know.

I do tend toward heavier styles of music so I guess I'm not too far off base hear.

Customary gear porn below. Stuff I'm hoping to acquire in the not to distant future include an ESP original series and a Boogie Mark amp. Also quite intrigued by Engl At the moment.

Generally content with what I Already have though

Apologies for the embedded Imgur images, but most of my pics are apparently too big to upload.

What kind of 7's did you have before? To dial it in more what kind of heavy music or types of tones are you going for?

Nice setup you have there.

One of the Original MIJ Ibanez Universes, Black with the green pickups. I was about 16 or 17 and worked for a supermarket job straight year to buy it. There wasn't really much else on the market until the Schecter Diamond Series showed up.

I didn't know what the hell I was doing back then, I was running an HM2 into the clean channel of a Marshall 6100 (anniversary series) head 🤣

Other stuff I owned in and around the time was an ESP standard MII deluxe That got traded for a Peavey Wolfgang.

Nice setup! I just got a Gower Killer Kali++ mod and love it! Let me know if you have any questions about mesa mark series.

You need to stop taking pictures from Randall Smith's garage and posting it as yours man, it's starting to creep people out, Kay?

Nice!

Was thinking a MkIV, V or a JP2C.

Most likely a IV as they're pretty easy to get here.

Gear porn indeed! Nice stuff you have there! How do you find your Kotzen tele in "heavy style" music? Does it fit in? I have been gas'ing for that guitar for years!

Nice. I had a JP2C at one time, and was floored with it for quite a while, but ultimately wound up preferring mark IIIs. Similarly have a IV now, but prefer the IIIs or IICs to it. There's something in common with the IV/V/JP2C, in they all have some thing I think of as the modern mesa tone. Not sure where it comes from, just a subtle voicing that's a bit less warm. For a lot of people the useful switching on the IV/V/JP2C probably outweighs that small tone difference. I definitely get some good tones with the IV sometimes though. The V I could definitely live without.

Weird story about that, I don't like teles or gold hardware, but I played that thing in the shop and well.. it's not in the shop anymore.

It's excellent for 80's hi gain stuff, shred and things like AIC. Not sure how well it'd do with modern high gain, but it is very aggressive and open.

But it's definitely a guitar that covers bases (in general) that the others dont.

Same here! I picked up a classic vibe tele just because I wanted to experience one, "because they said so". It was indeed an interesting guitar with its own uniqueness in terms of playability, tone, setting up, etc. But, it was so heavy and did not fit what I play, so I sold it. I visited the Chicago Music Exchange one time and tried out a Kotzen tele... and wow. I almost bought it, but my wife would make me sleep in the dog house. I mean, I don't mind if I had my gear with me.

I'd be just looking for a ballpark mesa mark voicing, but for me the difference between Marks is probably similar to the difference between Soldanos for others. I've owned and played most of the SLO "family" like the HR50s and avengers.

Even Decas and Lucky 13s have that "sound" on the OD Channels but are all a bit different, but not to the point where It'd be obvious to most on a blind listen.

I would bet, in years to come, That the V will be accepted for having it's own voice, despite trying To replicate other Marks.

Luckily I was unmarried at the time 🤣

My wife is quite supportive of my gear room, unfortunately she's also aware of what my stuff cost because it predates her and I stupidly told her what it cost in the early days. So whole she's tolerant of occasional high value purchases, too many is er.. frowned on.
