Got' it Yesterday and I'm not used to, but it seems to be a big tank of fun !
I won't name it, you know it (or you don't like Holloway's postings ! booooo !)

What I can say atm is this is heavy as f... (4.7 kgs) !!! my Bongo6 is lighter !!!
And it's as glossy as heavy : you can see me ! :lol:
Pic of the back of the headstock : a LOT of bass mechanics on a small surface !

@Thesius this one was from Spain

Picking with a bass pick is fun but finger picking is the most accurate... may be... first tests..

@odibrom Fair enough
This acquisition could be done thanks to Odibrom who posted the link to the ad ! Than you man

It's tuned BEADGBE ( one octave lower than a guitar ) and sounds more like a guitar than a bass for now - it's in between
The lower strings lack tension to sound like a bass

Ibanez designed it like a bass though, so I have to work on string tension and with the axe-fx

Sweet, you got it! I think even after shipping you got yours cheaper than mine. Which is awesome. At least things things aren’t going bat shit crazy in terms of pricing. I love that this is so outside the box, thinking-wise. I also have an SRAS7 Ashula, where the lowest 3 strings are fretless, and the highest 4 are fretted. I have zero idea how the guys in that department get the top brass at Ibanez to approve these projects, but I love that they do. Nothing stimulates creativity like being faced with a different set of choices.

I think that a brand that occasionally releases a model that is out of the ordinary has a good strategy
Those models are not THAT crazy, they are really well designed and playable
This SR7 is heavy but comfy, it wants to be played, and creativity comes in
I keep exploring the sounds due to the lot of possibilities with the 2 double-pots and PU selector

Congrats! Wish I could get my hands on one for years now (since they came out) . This is excactly the type of thing Ibanez needs to keep making. They always make these things and never make them or anything like it again. This instrument is the answer for all things 'in between', imo. I know they have a 6 string type one but that's not this!

@c7spheres
I got the SRC6 too
The SRC6 is indonesian, the SR7 is japanese

Quality : the SR7 is one or two steps above (Pickups, hardware, maybe wood)
Sound : the SR7 is faaaaaaaar above the SRC6 (EMG HZ)
Playability : I prefer the 7 string due to the narrower string spacing

I've been on and off interested in the SR6, as well. But I keep thinking I'd be better off with a Bass VI, or a 30" baritone tuned to E.

This and the whole experimental bass production at Ibanez is seriously cool! But what on earth do you play on it!? Haha

@SeventyFour : you only know it when you have it !
Seriously I have fun with it playing it finger style, but the 30.3" scale is a challenge for me :metal:

As an Ibanez nerd, I had no idea this existed, only knew of the MII 6 string. HNGD!
