So, you're welcome for the high quality pictures, I'm obviously a photographer.

I got this right before I went to drill, which sucked. I didn't get to even strum it. But tonight I restrung her and she's pretty great.

I wasn't in the market for a guitar when I found this for a pretty good price. You can't tell, but it's a little worn in, but feels good. The body has some small dents, but the paint was either touched up, or it literally just dented, because you can't tell on camera since it's still all black. The neck seems crazy dark for maple. Not sure if dirty or really worn in.

Plays real well. I for sure don't mind the square neck heel at all. Really makes me GAS for an RG550 remake

Future upgrades include non-cosmo black hardware, and maybe some black on black Ionizers or Dave Davidson pups. Especially since the neck pup was replaced by previous owner to some weird unknown one.

Pretty much, if you find one of these, grab it. They're killer guitars, and probably the cheapest MiJ UV you'll find. Ever since I got my 777P, I've had an addiction for these things. Despite my wallet saying otherwise, I want them all...

Technically yes, as they are both the UV profile, however AFAIK, the necks were shaped by hand, so there are variances in the exactness.

Thanks all! Something I meant to put in the original post, theres a small, roughly 1mm or slightly less, hump at the scarf. I don't notice it when playing, so I guess has anybody had this before? Structural issue or is all okay?

Yeah, I've had some of these and the necks were all a bit different thicknesses, but they all felt amazing. I think they are oiled rather than having some type of spray finish.

As for a potential hump, I'd just check to see if there's any separation at the joint and if the playing surface is level. If the joint is separating, you might take it to a luthier to have him fill any gap. To check that it's level, I'd use the string as a straight edge, fret at the 2nd and 3rd and 4th frets etc. and pluck the string toward the NUT (rather than the typical spot toward the bridge). The notes should ring out. If the note does not, then for some reason there is a high spot somewhere by the nut that could give you some trouble.

I suspect it's fine. I've had so, so many Ibanez guitars and all of them are just bomb proof. I would just play it and enjoy it. Man those UV7SBKs are so nice.

Why would you buy that if you have the uv777bk with the better aanj neck joint? A black pickguard on the uv777bk would look awesome, best of both worlds...

Can never have enough UV's and neck joint is subjective, some prefer the square heel.

The 7S actually sounds a lot beefier than the 777. Same exact specs (minus swapped neck pup), but they sound and feel totally different. Also it's a collection.

Some people prefer the access of the AANJ, but some feel the square heel sounds better.

Possible scarf joint shrinkage? I'm definitely no expert but if the headstock piece has shrunk, then it will pull the first fret back a bit. The wood has shrunk, can't "fix" that but fortunately nearly anything can be fixed/made playable with a fret level and crown, or at worst a complete refret with a re-leveling of the board.

Just play it though. If it's a serious issue you'll know in time and like I said, all can be made better. I'm totally biased, but these older MIJ Ibanez's are pretty rock solid, even with all their potential issues.
