Super surprising new gear day, i traded my way to this very wonderfully kept Jackson 8 string.

It plays great, i've never played an 8 string before this so I don't have much to compare it to.
I will say that the neck is very thin and this guitar is super easy to play, and really easy to adapt to, i do have a 7 as well.

I do have some questions about it.
    1. What string guages should I use for this, it has a 26.5" scale?
    2. How should i go about setting it up to make it play as nice as possible?
    3. What are some bands that play 8 string guitars?

    Thanks in advance! 41991796_2332651786751061_5695791735951589376_n.jpg 41947520_2332651846751055_1907208364119556096_n.jpg 42125569_2332651910084382_8872872821118730240_n.jpg

I’d use a 9-80 set or higher for the low f#. Just depends how slink you like your string to be. The strings I suggested will give slightly skinnier feel than a 10-46 standard e at 25.5” scale. If you know how that feels. It’s all preference and what you can play with.

Sound advice, though I'll add that you really don't need to go over 80 on the low string unless you're tuning down and even at that, I had mine with a low E a couple times and it was still articulate at that tension.

I went all around town to find a .80 gauge string and neither guitar center or sam ash had them! I had to order them online, but thanks to you the guitar plays wonderfully. I had to unravel some of the winding to get it through the tuning peg:mf666:
