I just picked this up via CL. I was looking for a decent LP style guitar that I’d want to use if playing Tool covers. I wanted a bit of that vibe but didn’t want to spend 5k on a LP Custom and I just have this aversion to the Epiphone headstock. The LTD looks and feels great. We will see how I get along with the EMGs.

I’m curious about it though. It’s gloss black with black hardware (including locking tuners) and white binding. From the serial it looks to be a MIK 2015 model. I’ve been trying to find pics of similar guitars with black hardware but am coming up empty so far. Can anyone provide more detail? Hoping it’s not a fake or something...if so it’s a damned nice one lol

It's definitely legit. Solid looking EC too! I'd ditch the EMGs personally.

The reply trick works for the images @ScatteredDimension.

Nice looking EC and usually these go for a good price used. It would sound really strange for Chinese copies of an LTD, instead of an ESP, and at that price but it's not impossible. This looks legit however and corresponds to the model Thomman had.

Thanks! I have some other stuff on hand I could put in there if I don’t dig them. Not sure what I’d put in though a JB would be the most “Tool” but I don’t know that I’d go that route. I’m not even sure what I have tbh.

Just noodled for a few minutes at as low a volume as I could on the Super Kraken (it’s a bit late to be pushing it). Sounds pretty good even with the EMGs. I’m sure it’d sound better with something else though.

Congrats! An LTD EC-1000 series is a super solid guitar--I have one myself in tran green from 2007--and when you can get them for less than new/full price it's always super worth it.

HNGD! I had my EC-1000 since 2012 and it is one of my most played guitar. They are definitely great value for the money.

It’s an EC-1000S. They still make this one too, just with Fluence Moderns the last couple years.

Very nice. I've been looking at picking up one for myself as well just to have something without a floating bridge, but I was looking at the Koa edition.

    Huge +1.

I'm thinking of getting the same exact guitar. I saw one at my local Sam Ash music store for only $700. Not sure if it was new or used or if that price is considered good or too expensive. 3 main reasons I really want this guitar. 1. 24.75 neck scale. 2. Always wanted to get a Les Paul shape guitar. 3. Would like to add a wood finish guitar to my collection.

I played it a bit last night and I really like it. Not sure about the EMGs yet, but I certainly don't dislike them so far.

If you end up not liking the emgs you could try swaping in a Seymour Duncan blackout, should be a straight swap.

I recently got a Schecter C-1 Platinum with the 81 bridge and 85 neck. I've always liked EMG, but I wanted a little more ass from the bridge, and a little more clarity from the neck. After swapping the pickups, I got exactly what I was after. Swapped them back to the "normal" positions for a week, and spent the whole time missing how thick the 85 bridge sounded. Just put heavier strings on it, tuned it to drop B, and went back to the 85 bridge/81 neck. It's a monster.

In short: Try an EMG 85 in the bridge if you haven't.

Or better still, a 57/66 set.
