It's not really much bigger than a Bongo or Jazz bass despite how it looks haha

I love the simple aesthetic. It’s a nice departure from some of the almost Kissel-like finishes they’ve been putting out lately.

If/when I get an Afterburner, it will likely be a five string exactly like your bass or in gunmetal instead of white.

I agree. With the matte white and the dark FB, it's really a modern Ritter-esque looking instrument. I think it's much harder to spec out a minimalistic instrument that still looks cool - as opposed to boring and normal - than it is to throw a bunch of different woods and colors at it. Not to take this off topic, but if Kiesel did some really cool minimalistic instruments I think it would get them quite a bit more customers. There's a rather thick line between good specs and I'm-going-to-use-every-crayon-I-own, yet a lot of companies/people step well over that line.

I say this as someone who owns a hot pink NG2. But seriously - if I were to order custom I'd want to copy this exactly!

Yep. I’ve seen a few relatively classy, simple Kiesels here and there but I don’t anticipate them becoming proponents of a minimalist aesthetic since those “extra crayons” are disproportionately profitable. I see fewer gaudy-looking Dingwalls, though they seem to be making more and more of them. Don’t know if that’s driven by their taste or their customers’.

I can’t fault Dingwall or Kiesel for wanting to make money by selling people options they want to pay for, I guess. But my personal preferences aside, I think burl reverse bursts etc will look very dated in a decade or so. Basses like the OP’s probably won’t.

Yeah, “violin-like” finishes like brown or sunburst over figured maple is about where I max out. But those seem better-suited to more “classic” designs.

I did like the satin bubinga tops on the OG AB-IIs though.
