I was always a hardware person, now I had just bought a Presonus audio interface Studio 2/4. I guess I'd need a laptop/computer and a MIDI keyboard (I bought an Arturia Minilab). Am I good to go?

I chose the Presonus Studio 2/4 because it has MIDI connectivity which can integrate with all my hardware gear that are MIDI capable.

    What exactly is the question?

Are you asking whether you need a computer for computer-based recording?!

    You're going to need
    1) A D.A.W., try Reaper to start (you can evaluate it for some time)
    2) Overdrive/Distortion VST plugin, try the freeware TS999 by Ignite Amps
    3) Amplifier VST plugin, try the freeware Emissary by Ignite Amps
    4) Cabinet VST plugin, try the freeware NadIR by Ignite Amps
    5) IR files, try the freewares that you can find here and there

    That's it. have fun :)
