Everyone knows I love Schecter USA, and I have a bunch, but I have never gelled with those matching inlay headstocks, and I have told them that many times...plain maple, painted black, or completely matching work well for 98% of the buyers. I have yet to find anyone that loves that headstock color thing, but they continue to do it.

Well those are super tasty, but I think the black really sets it off. You have great taste in guitars anyhow, but I forgot about that pair and I will concede those are the first two I have seen that I like in that style.

Everyone seems to love their CS Schecter, but for some reason the thing is still a well kept secret, even owners don't mention or suggest them that often, which is something that happens exclusively with Schecter.

Sorta this:

I brag about mine any chance I Get, still probably my favorite company and builder...

I have ideas for more I need to order just have a ton of other guitars on the way. Plus the new Jackson American series caught my eye and I've had the chance to get some guitars I always wanted like my 1987 JEM 777

I would recommend USA Schecter generally but definitely anytime someone asks for ideas for a custom builder. Schecter will do what you want (as long as it doesn't infringe a trademark etc) and is a legit shop that will actually get you the guitar you wanted.

The only other shop I'd trust with that type of complete one-off order would be ESP, but ordering a guitar like that from a US dealer seems like it would be extraordinarily expensive and difficult to do.

Wait, what are those? USA custom shop?

Yessir. Sunset 24 6 and 7 Strings I specced myself. I've had them since 2018. Awesome guitars

I want to do another pair in HSH just like em, same color. Plus I have some other insane ideas but I've got so much stuff going on it's insane

No doubt about it. This is exactly what I tell folks. The two shops I use and have used are Schecter and ESP Japan. They will deliver the goods every single time, but you need to be patient.

I am purging some guitars now for another project, but none of my masterworks. Those guitars just can't be beat IMHO. The pricing is always eye popping, but considering what you get, I feel it is worth it. Especially if you go normal paint and wood choices. Once you get into 5a quality tops and a lot of custom inlay work, the price really goes up. Makes sense as there is less and less of quality woods to choose from, and the skillset to do the work. Some of these builders are getting long in the tooth. CNC has made good progress helping the inlay world and hopefully the prices level off. Having it done the old school way by hand only is almost cost prohibitive.

My friend wanted a tele like my masterworks with a different pickup configuration and locking tuners. With an equivalent top and the same inlay on the body binding and neck it was in the 14k range at ESP. I am guessing Schecter would be almost that much.

I could buy 21x used Prestiges for that much!

Joking aside, if you know what you want and nobody else makes it, can you really put a price on it... Those green ones are stunning.

Thanks. The funny thing is most of my USA Schecters have been in the 2 to 2.5k range these two where in the 2.5 to 3 range. But that was all around 2014 to 2014 to 2018 before inflation...

I think now most of the schecter USA Guitars I specced range from 2,800 to 3,900. I need to knock out a few things first though

Just bumping this because I haven't seen anybody mention how the new 7-string is $5,200 on SW.
I suppose that's in-line with a Suhr or Tom Anderson with similar specs, but you would think Schecter having a massive production line would lower the prices...

It's still a custom shop instrument, as a Suhr Mateus Asato is, no real reason to lower the price on them as the production is the same as their one off models

New models will always cost more until interest wanes, or they are limited production.

SW is great, but honestly, you can do better dealing with smaller shops for guitars like that. I use DCGL for all my guitar needs since 1992 as it is in my back yard. Not to say I have not purchased gear elsewhere, but dealing with real pros in the business helps. No knock on SW, but DCGL is the original shop that dealt with custom shop guitars from ESP, Jackson-Charvel, Fender, Schecter, etc. Nick at AP modeled his business after DCGL, and he has a great shop too. The point is, it works on a small scale to deal in that arena. 45 years of ordering custom shop guitars for clients has weight. DCGL can make things happen that other shops cannot, and they frequently have access to very special and rare guitars.

I have turned a lot of players and students onto Schecter USA guitars. Used, they are a steal. I just turned a friend onto a used 24-6 with hardtail, like new at GC, for $2k. He doesn't totally love the color scheme, but he cannot believe the quality at that price. That guitar is from 2023.

That said, the quality of the USA stuff has always been top tier. 80's or early 90's, still amazing. Having owned a bunch over the years, I can personally see the increase in quality, but it is incremental. Schecter USA, especially since the new facility move in about 2013, is just ridiculously good. I still think they fly under the radar. Like Church said, I also paid in the 2's for most of mine that are USA production. Since 2022, the prices are up a bit, so I would say 2.5-3.5k can get you into quite a few here in the states.

Problem is that with the Duty War between US and EU, things are gonna get pricier by quite a lot here, and decent deals won't be a thing anymore. A chance for local builder I guess. My only gripe is most luthiers here in Italy are mostly into classic designs and not much else, which is quite limited.

I understand. Classic designs will always be the front runner of sales, but I too would love to see more builders trying some different shapes...even proven ones like the explorer or star. But I understand that is a limited market.
