Not sure how I feel bout it. I mean it looks badass, but it's too much wood wannabe, if it looked different from a quilted top I'd have liked it more. It's like a vegan burger.

Yeah, this gives me 90's photoflame vibes.

Like online guitar aficionados will argue whether 4mm constitutes a "real" top, but be into this.

If you can get a really nice looking pseudo quilt without cutting down more trees then more power to them. give me something like that and a richlite board and I would be pleased as punch

I mean, there's nothing really better about resin stabilized products if you're coming from the environmental angle, unfortunately.

true but usually the main thing with composites is that they use cheaper more farmable woods and not rare stuff like normal toanwoodz

I mean, sustainable lumber is sustainable lumber.

The chemicals, processes, and energy going into composites is a net negative.

Buy it because it's cool, not because it's actually better.

I have plenty of instruments with composites, I'm not especially against it, but I don't kid myself into thinking it's any better for the planet.

It would be hilarious if someone bought that not reading the fine print that it’s not actual wood top. How is that any different from a crappy Indonesian veneer? I wonder if there is a difficulty in using that material that would set it apart from standard materials?

Genuine questions not trying to troll just no clue about the materials.

IDGAF what material it is - it’s beautiful and I would like to see more of it (in moderation)
I like how you added the "in moderation" part. Because we know full well that Schecter is going to be like, "Oh, you like that?" and then excitedly put it on every surface of every instrument for 10 years until we literally beg them to stop. I mean, I once liked a little abalone, too.

Jackson did it more interesting, looks artificial so nothing I'd compare with real wood. Yeah it's also cheesy AF but whatever.

I know I've seen another smaller brand/maker doing a similar top that looked really neat. Can't recall who it was though.

Hopefully, someone will push some boundaries with the designs. I don't mind that Schecter one, and the Jackson is neat, but I'd like to see something less quilt like and perhaps more angular and sharp.

That stuff is amazing and has absolutely blown my dick off. I'm on their website now!
I was wondered if it would have the chatoyance of wood but straight away on their website they address that. I'm game for it!
Whilst I see the vegan burger analogy, if we use the recent lacklustre (but not less expensive) ESP USA tops as an example, the choice is a succulent, juicy, delivious vegan burger than tastes 95% like meat, or a 100% beef patty with a reasonable chance of gristly bits.

Could it possibly be Acacia? I remember that was the first time I've seen this kind of top used before. It's just unfortunate it was Acacia of all shops.

what was wrong with acacia?
They had plenty of QC issues throughout the years. I remember seeing plenty of threads on them and to just stay clear. Its totally possible things have changed since then, but I'm not sure.

I can't say I like this, but I kind of like the fact that it's clearly not wood nor trying to fool anyone into thinking it is. I prefer that approach with this stuff to something that looks more like it's trying to mimic a real wood look.
