In any case, atm Schecter is somehow the last brand a metalhead would consider, at least those not into dj0nt and uber detuned stuff. I mean, I'm not sure why a Thrash/ Heavy/ Speed metaller would put Schecter on a to buy list over Jackson, Esp, Ibanez, Solar.

Has Jackson and Ibanez's Indo QC gotten better?
Also Schecter's one of the few brands giving Explorers love, so that alone gives them metal cred. Even Ibanez discontinued the Destroyer for the 9th time.

Same as Schecter from what I can tell
True, but somehow they always put some effort into making em cheesy looking to some degree.
They'd sell loads more just going the "boring way".

Funny thing: the most metal looking E-1 hey sell ATM is the Jake Pitts signature, who's the least metal guy they have in their roster

I’ve been away has John talked about the pickups in the Taos yet? Similar to Nailbombs?

He talked about them in the PMT rig rundown video. He sent them the nailbomb/cold sweat, but it sounded like he accidentally sent them an alnico v nailbomb. So, his signature bridge pickup has an alnico magnet. Very similar to the Bare Knuckles, but he prefers the Schecters.

Schecter is both my favorite, and most hated guitar brand. Nearly every guitar I own is a Schecter, they make incredible cost effective and reliable guitars, with specs that match my exact needs. And yet, I can not stand the aesthetic of most of their models. I hate gaudy, over the top guitars, but the few guitars they make that are clean and simple are some of my favorite instruments of all time.

I want to be endorsed by them one day so let's not tell them I said that. This is confidential info I'm posting here on the internet tyvm.

The Super Shredder series is the ubiquitous "hidden gem" in Schecter's lineup for metal. Particularly the exotic models with full wenge necks. I'd put them on par with anything from Jackson or LTD for thrash or death metal type stuff. I'd love to see a 7 string version of the shredder exotic.

Same here. Sadly.

I'm a fan of that series, but then again...what if I wanted a less flashy looking guitar? The gaudy look is what kept the SVSS-III away from being a top seller.

Take this one, make it white, or black. Ten tell me you would not have gassed for one.

The miles dmitri baker svss is one of my favorite looking guitars they've made.

My C-7 SLS Elite punches way above it's weight in terms of playability. Problem is no one ever believes me because... It's a schecter. They've still got a pretty bad reputation to get over.

I dunno, to me it feels like the Schecter hate train has long since been boarded and departed. Sure, they still make some Dean competition, but they also make some Gibson competition, Fender competition, Ibanez competition, Suhr competition, the whole gamut, and aren't really the "budget equivalent" of them either. But yeah, their bad stuff is like really, really, bad.

Imho they don't make "bad" guitars, just tons of stuff that plays great, sounds great but looks for beginners. There's a difference between a classy looking and a cheesy looking guitar, with similar aesthetic appointments. PRS guitars never look cheesy, Schecters rarely look classy.

I agree with this. Even mine has the faded flame maple gradient and even that is like half cringe.

Then you see USA schecters with a flat paint job and go why the fuck can't we just have that. I played two USA KM-7s the other day and they were just purple and orange and looked so classy. And played amazing..

I'd like them to stop putting satin finishes on all the recent KM models.

The goofy inlays could go too, but I've been holding my breath for well over a decade on that one.

That was the one thing I hated on my km7. Because I'm a neanderthal who rests his pinky below the strings I wore a nice shiny patch there

@NoodleFace I've worn a couple bodies down with my arm on satin finishes. On the back of the neck it's nice for a little while, but gets worn down to almost gloss over time there as well.
