My experience with Halo Guitars. The stuff nightmares are made of.

I can see why so many people are having custom guitars built. It must be hard finding production guitars that suck that bad for that kind of money.

After hearing so many horror stories about custom builds gone astray, I’m really glad that I’m easily amused by mid-price off-the-shelf instruments.

I've gotten to that point. I've heard how people don't like "Indo" guitars but I've been very happy with mine.

Putting pickup rings on a guitar already with a pickguard is the stuff of my deepest nightmares
Huh. I’m not even sure how that would work. Is the pup ring screwed to just the pick guard? Or is there a tight enough route that it goes through to the wood? I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything like that before.

I got a new Schecter Hellraiser C-7 FR-S (Black Cherry!) last fall, made in Indonesia, and it’s wonderful. I’ve played some recent MII Jacksons in that price range or a little less, and they have been uneven — some quite good, some that I would prefer not to own. I’ve played enough of those and enough nice Schecters and LTDs made in Indonesia that I’m going to reserve judgment on anything until I’ve at least played it.

My guess would be that there's no routing beneath the pickguard and that its purely cosmetic.
