Completely OT, but I have numerous questions about the painting behind the gold ironbird. Wtf is that, @uni777 ?

The goldtop ironbird is a early 2000's bodyart series which i kinda bought as a mod project. I just never really figured out what to do with it.
I always liked the Gibson darkback goldtops but buying another LP just for the color is out of my budget. All my stuff was bought when i had a better job years back.
So then it hit me that gibson purist would hate a goldtop irondird and other people would hate a dad guitar ironbird which made me love the idea even more.

I gutted the body, Drilled in the inserts for the tailpiece. Plugged the string though holes sanded the top down and used rattlecans to spray the top. It came out way better than i hoped.
Never handled a rattlecan before. I installed a tonezone with a 1meg pot. All parts used came out of my spares stash, save for the tuners. I bought those because i wanted chrome ones.

If I like a guitar I always try to get several of them.
So I have :
Jackson DK2M x3 ( two swirls,one white)
Ibanez RGR08 LTD x2
And my #1: Jackson DKMG, in cobalt swirl.
Bought the one on the left for 350€, the bridge was changed for an OFR, and it's pristine. It plays phenomenally well, and it seems to eat string tension. Both are in D, 12-52, but this one feels more like a 10-46.

The one on the right was cost me 550€, I immediately swapped the bridge for a lockmeister. It is not pristine at all, the EMG 85 in the neck decided to die for no reason, and overall this one feels more raw than the other. I play this one more than the other, since it already has dings and all.

I love that Gunmetal grey one. I kick myself regularly for not getting one when they came out. Passed on one as there were not many drop-in replacements for the emg's at the time.

They pop on Reverb from time to time at very good prices (got the gunmetal one for 600€, and it's basically mint). The Seymour Duncan Pegasus/Sentient set sounds fantastic on them but you also have more options from BKP, Lundgren and Elysian Pickups.

These have consistently proven to be my favorite guitars bar none. In the hands they’re basically indistinguishable from USA Jackson’s.

Historically had alot of duplicates. At one point had 2 RG560s, 2 RG565s (well, one was the '89 proto wt sharkteeth in desert sun yellow), 2 RG570s (twice), 2 RS525s, 3 Jackson PS4s, jesus I've had alot of crap haha. Thats not even close to the tip of the iceberg. I have to dig for some old pics
