Just found this band recently. Sort of a cross between Mutoid Man and Torche, with a touch of prog. They have a new album out on Friday. Sounds great so far. :yesway:

Looking forward to this. Sounds like they toned it down a bit from the last album. More focused, less chaotic.

Being more or less sheltered isn’t entirely a bad thing... these guys are blowing my mind! This is the kind of stuff I’d love to write if I actually f’ing applied myself- light on the theory, riffs-and-hooks for days!

I’m getting too old for this shtick (raising grandkids for crying out loud), but man it feels good to hear something that sets off that pilot light.

    Thanks for sharing!

EDIT: Listening to “Igneous” on YouTube, that main hook is friggin’ dope. Going to have to pick this up.

EDIT: Add to that it’s all high energy and none of it’s particularly dark... refreshing.

Yeah, I’m all in. Picked up the Freaks EP, Chromaparagon, and Crux all last night.

Haven’t been that enamored since The Safety Fire. I’d say the progression from the first full-length to the second is similar as well, song writing is a lot more focused and cohesive.

Igneous is still the bee’s knees though, like the heaviest blues song I’ve ever heard!

    Thanks again for sharing gunshow!

Loving the new album. More focused than the last one, not as chaotic. Stronger songwriting and the vocalist definitely took it up a notch.

Album of the year by a long shot right now. I've been listening to nothing but this album since it came out and have a new favorite song every day.

Last night i had to rewind that post-chorus of "Motionless in Sky" like 20 times, where he sings "Old blood in new veins, it's sick if it stays, where it no longer lives."

Fuck, he kills it so hard, amazing phrasing, huge emotions, tons of soul.

Wow, thanks mate. I'm listening to it right now at work and I feel bad about my guitar playing xD I'm in song #2 and it's superb. Very fresh and interesting.
I don't know why but I have a feeling that if Baroness could sound better, this is it

I love the drums in the during the verses, and how the whole band locks together in general.

Another thing that’s refreshing- on several songs they’ll do only one time through a part for the intro instead twice or more. Ballsy but effective.

Yeah I've been traveling quite a bit and I've been listening to this a lot too. I don't know why his voice is growing on me so much, I didn't think it was anything special the first couple times but now I think it fits in perfectly with the music. Really good stuff and I am also finding new songs and/or passages that are my new daily favorite. I need to keep listening to figure out who they remind me of.

Nick's a dude, this record is absolutely fantastic. Buying soon. Must support artists who clearly have this much ability, passion and vision.

Probably the best thing about them is that you really can't compare them to any other bands. Maybe a proggier and heavier Baroness but that's not it either.

One thing though is "Musketeers" sounds like it could be off Torche - Meanderthal musically.

Finally gave Crux a listen on Spotify - that was damn cool! Not what I expected at all, given the descriptions, but I'm really digging it. I got a strong late 80's / early 90's vibe; especially reminded me of Nuno. Definitely going into rotation!
