When did this thing come out? I might actually get one, but I don't like the retarded looking "SEVEN" inlay. The real reason I want it is the reverse headstock. What do you guys think of it?

Good quality, probably overpriced.

Best bet: buy a used RG5xx or higher, swap the pickups and block the trem (if it has one) and it'll be about the same quality.

Aside from the inlay, I think it's a nice looking guitar for a 6-string. :agreed:

$1299 for that is ridiculous, IMO.

:agreed: It's just a mahogany bodied RG with a retard inlay. You can get a Jackson SLSMG (also mahogany), that is neckthru with an ebony board for under a grand. Use the cash you save to replace the EMG-Hz pickups and still have cash left over.

I hate how expensive artist signature guitars tend to be, and there is always something about them that I can't live with.

The damn thing is made in Korea, it's not even RG1570 level quality. Total Rip Off. It's an RG321 with a reverse headstock, fugly as hell inlay, and EMGs.

I said it before, I'll say it again:

Ibanez - great guitars, shitty marketing.

They should have made another RG 7-string instead of a stupid signature.

See, I hate Jackson's (can't stand their necks for some reason) and love the reverse Ibanez headstock. That alone makes it worthwhile to me:yesway:

I think you should get a Paul Gilbert signature if you want a reverse headstock minus the stupid inlay. Unless you want the EMG's.

Depends on what you want it for, really.

I think it looks cool, especially for Mick (it is his sig model). If you don't like it, don't buy it...lol

But, it's a mahogany bodied, neck thru with EMG's and a blocked trem. Tone wise, it's probably a freaking monster.

It will probably sound more round than an RG5XX model, since those are basswood, but if you like it and it will create tone that you are looking for...then our opinions are worthless.

My opinion though? It's Korean made, so play one before you buy it (if possible). I've played some that were EXCELLENT, and i've played some that were straight up garbage. I wouldn't buy it, but then again I have all the guitars i need/want right now.

While Korean guitars have come up quite a lot in quality in the last few years, I think a list price a hair under $1800 for a Korean guitar is absurd.

Then again, the $3k list for the new mirror-topped Jem is possibly even MORE laughable. Ibanez pricing these days has got to be some sort of a joke... or maybe we're just paying through the teeth for the way current US fiscal/international trade policy has devalued the US dollar by about 40% since 2000.

Then you have to deal with the goofy f-holes. In the end though, I'd rather deal with those.

The f-holes are just painted on...easy to remove.

Most of PG's are anyway.
